Great news, we can now forget about Barry, retain Alonso and get on with our other transfers

      Operation must be ecstatic
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
      Mine angry and defrauded young?

He deserves everything he will get at Man City. Can't see them breaking into the top 4 next season no matter who they sign.

I'm glad we didn't sign him. He has shown he was only ever interested in the money.
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

Exactly. Lets now pursue players who are interested in playing for LFC - a team with title aspirations and Champs League next season ie. the opposite of Man City.

David Silva please (as I have stated here and elsewhere). Alonso is addition by inaction.

This will be the best for our chemistry and system, and I have no harsh words for Barry-- fair play, make your money. If Villa didn't want the £12 mil, they could have said no. But again, I feel Alonso is superior for the team's needs and will repay the supporter's loyalty with quality. Now, go get a winger.

With Perez in charge of madrid we can forget about David Silva IMO. Alonso is a different story as unlike Owen we have the uper hand as he still has 3 years on his contract and Coco is no where to be seen this time.

Rafa will tell perez to **** off. I am sick of madrid thinking they can come circling and try and hand us their cast off's in return.

if i was Rafa i would say 35million for alonso let us buy silva and they have to buy cuntaldo and then we may have a deal.

Maybe, but they're not in our situation of having a massive debt and no stadium, also the people behind the scenes there, the big shareholders, seem to be on solid ground financially.

I suppose what i mean is that with the bar being raised seemingly every season almost, we are the least equipped as we stand, to consistently spend the sort of cash needed to consistently compete at the highest level, consistently, being the operative word.

Barry would have been a good signing for us at about £8 million and 60,000 a week wages. It would have been poor business on Benitez's part to spunk 12mill and match the 100k per week wages he's reportedly getting at City.

Anyway, do we know Rafa was even in for him this time? Perhaps none of the big four were in for him and he fancied a new challenge. The money will obviously be nice but perhaps he's earnt one last big bumper pay out due to his loyalty at Villa and relatively average wages for a player of his standing.

if Rafa still wanted Barry, he can't blame Parry anymore for not moving fast enough.

We won't sign a big name player this season.

If Alonso went Barry was by far the best replacement available to us. And I'm 100% certain he would have joined us if he could have been assured of first team football.

If Xabi left before the bid would have to have been a big one. Now it must be massive to make me even contemplate it.

Still, what if Rafas plan is to drop Stevie into CM and bring in another player to play off Torres?
tend to disagree. barry would have been IMO a woefully inadequate replacement for xabi. IF he were to go, martinez from athletico would be ideal.

How much of Martinez have you seen? Why would he be a better replacement for Xabi than the Premiership proven Barry?

IMO, Barry is proven but only to be a moderately good player. He will not suddenly become top class. Martinez, who knows, could be **** or could be brilliant. Are you a gambler?
