I've never heard of him before but he's definitely better than Barry.Originally posted by Reece View PostNot really no. I guess it depends on your opinion of Barry. Whilst I don't think he is as good as Alonso, I obviously rate him higher than you do. I haven't seen much at all of Martinez so can't really say about him.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Anyone considered that we wouldn't actually meet Villa's £12m valuation (a price touted before the Citeh transfer), and Barry knew this? Therefore we weren't going to be an option for him. Then, if Citeh offer him silly wages, who can really blame him for saying yes. Most people on here who say they'd do otherwise would be lying.

Or the fact that Rafa has actually been telling the truth and we want to keep Xabi, and therefore didn't actually want Barry now?

Sorry, I just find all the bitterness and slagging of Barry a bit strange and uncalled for when know one yet knows the full facts, especially bearing in mind so many people apparently didn't want him to sign for us anyway.

It's a pity Janine didn't share your view. Frank's car lot's never been the same.Originally posted by MrsB View PostNo one is better than Barry.

Yeah, I think there's mileage in this.Originally posted by Reece View PostAnyone considered that we wouldn't actually meet Villa's £12m valuation (a price touted before the Citeh transfer), and Barry knew this? For me Barry obviously knew neither us nor Arsenal were going to play ball at that price, and neither should we have. There was no reason at all for him to go so quickly into the summer if he had other real options. A £12m with 1 year on his contract is pretty much the same as the £17m valuation neither team would pay last summer with 2 years on it. Its too much, he's a good player but not a great one, simple as that. At Citeh he'll get to play, and given the money they're spending he really should have a better shout of silverware there in the duration of his new contract than Villa will. This is his last (and only) big move, if it wasn't going to be top 4, and he's pretty much burnt his bridges at Villa, I can see why he's done it.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Funny though, despite championing Xabi for the last 12 months, I did see a place in the squad for Barry & cant help feeling a little rejected & disappointed.3rd place. Worst champions ever.
