The problem with your argument is nothing actually goes AGAINST the mancs, unless it's something so blatant like Scholes thinking he's a goalkeeper against Fulham.

And a clear penalty is already one major decision that changed the match. At least one.

Change the ground to OT, and switch the handball to an opposition player, in a situation the mancs aren't winning.
