I'm not so much judging him on team style, as much as observing that they dont have an actual way of playing, it's different every game. I cant help but think he doesnt have a clue what he's doing, and is just selecting different ways of playing at random, for each game. There's no consistency in the way they're playing.

When Newcastle were in trouble there was two ways they could have gone. Experience or Emotion.
They went with emotion. I think all Newcastle fans still remember the days of Keegan and Robson all to clearly and wanted another Geordie brought in. Keegan was never the greatest at tactics but was a fantastic motivator who clearly had the fans on his side.
I have no reservations in saying that Shearer clearly knows he is in at the deep end and as such brought in Ian Dowie to help out and help implement his ideas. Fair play to him for taking on the challenge, but he has clearly not had the effect on the players that he would have expected.
It was always likely to be a short term deal, with longevity dependant on him being a big success. He will no doubt not be staying on.Forwards.......

barton doesnt seem to be a fan mind
Joey Barton's Newcastle career looks over after the midfielder reportedly called Alan Shearer a 's*** manager' in a dressing-room row following Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool.
Shearer confronted Barton after the controversial midfielder was shown a straighr red card for a late tackle on Xabi Alonso - earning a three-match ban which means he won't play again this season.
The club's interim manager reportedly called it a 'coward's tackle' but Barton is alleged to have hit back at Shearer by telling the former England captain: 'You're a s*** manager with s*** tactics.'

Doesnt help when the players dont get the basics right. Their marking from set pieces all season has been poor. Tactics dont make a difference in these situations regardless of who the manager is.Quit your jibber jabber!!!
Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

A novice who threw himself in at the deep end. With a bit of luck he might have made a better impression but the bottom line is he has a seriously **** squad of bits and bobs. They are as good as gone now and that team will need a massive overhaul."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Trrouble for Newcastle is that their players will be stuck on Premiership wages if they go down, and to be honest I can't see clubs lining up to take many of their players off their hands. They could be in danger of doing a Leeds, as the club is a mess from top to bottom! The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't think that Shearer could do anything with the players at his disposal. Most of them are either past it, or probably never had it in the first place. There's no desire or motivation in that team at all.
As others have pointed out, I think that they were just hoping that the honeymoon period would earn them enough points to survive this season, but it's not going to happen. If they go down, and i'm pretty sure that they will, what do they do for next season. They pretty much need to ship out the whole team. Makes you wonder if they'll even survive in the championship next season!Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. Aaron Levenstein

Employing Dowie was the kiss of death he's probably the one of the worst managers ever and tactically inept so even as an assistant he's shocking also as David Baddiel said he has a face like a melted gremlin
That depends some of them may have relegation clauses in their contracts where their wages go down by a x% if the team get relegated, they have a couple of good players that could make a bit of cash, Xisco will go back to Spain, Nolan isn't a bad player and will probably go to a promoted club or one of the mid table sides, Martins will end up in Spain or Italy, Bassong will probably end up at Arsenal, Gutiérrez will go back to Spain and someone will take a chance on Owen also Mike Ashley still has money to put in if he wants wheras Leeds had nothing.Originally posted by Exiled_red View Post

I don't think David Baddiel is wise to make comments about how people look. Mind you, he's done OK getting Morwenna Banks.Originally posted by Warren View PostEmploying Dowie was the kiss of death he's probably the one of the worst managers ever and tactically inept so even as an assistant he's shocking also as David Baddiel said he has a face like a melted gremlin
I knew Morwenna of course. Last saw her at a Bunnymen gig in Kilburn. Nice woman. Wish now I'd made a move but I was with someone at the time.
True story.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

From what I read it seems they haven't put relegation clauses in the players contracts. Yeah they have a few players that people will take but I don't see them making too much money from them, and alot of the money from sales will have to go on they wages of the remaining players. But I can't see Ashley putting money in.
In fairness they could still get out of it if they beat BoroThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If thats the case then they'll be a bit ****ed although the relegated clubs do get parachute payments for a couple of years but as we've seen if a club doesn't get back up to the prem in 2 seasons then they usually struggle a la Leeds, Leicester, Charlton and SouthamptonOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostFrom what I read it seems they haven't put relegation clauses in the players contracts.
