Yes, I am surprised. I don't blame Barton for taking what he's offered but, FFS, £64k a week? I realise the salary alone is not outlandish by Premiership standards but given he's not even an international and his abysmal record on and off the pitch it just seems obscene.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Yes, I vaguely remembered he had played a bit but that fact is more a criticism of England and its manager than a statement about Barton's ability.
F*ck, was it McClaren?

To be fair to him, McClaren has done a good job in The Netherlands this season. He might end up a decent manager in time but no way should he have got the England job when he did. Still, we all know that so I don't know why I'm bothering to say it yet again.

I just hope, and I am sure it will happen, one of these days Barton will have provoked the wrong person and will end up in a bad way. Only then will this scumbag learn his lesson, IMO.

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce, the man who signed Joey Barton for Newcastle, could be interested in acquiring him for Rovers after the Magpies began moves to sack the midfielder. (BBC Gossip, Full story: The Independent)
