I love the game and its emotional highs and lows, and how things can change in an instant - for me nothing comes close in that sense. However, there are some real cancers in the game at the moment and this is one of them. This isn’t the first time Chelsea have been involved in this sort of thing and they should be brought to book. A disgrace. Although if anything I think it’s a reflection on society just as much as football (fans).
The players should get lengthy bans and the club big fines. Their behaviour was disgraceful and it incites the fans as does Sky carrying on the way they did. They tried to insinuate that there’s some sort of conspiracy, and they made out every single one of those claims were nailed on pens when quite clearly they weren’t.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I do not believe there was any kind of conspiracy. But there have been many posters on this site who do and think Platini has some kind of anti english agenda. I think last nights events would only have made those claims stronger. If that had been Man Utd playing in a Premiership game we'd have been up in arms and screeming bloody blue murder.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostI love the game and its emotional highs and lows, and how things can change in an instant - for me nothing comes close in that sense. I understand why Drogba and co were so upset at the end as they were wronged on the night, though it was not a case of the ref being malicious. Though I guess Drogba was more trying to pass the buck having wasted two glourious chances over the tie!Forwards.......

.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Absolutely spot on mate. I detest Chelsea with a passion and they simply shouldnt be allowed to get away with such disgraceful behaviour.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostI love the game and its emotional highs and lows, and how things can change in an instant - for me nothing comes close in that sense. As for Sky
, they just perpetuated the problem with their thinly veiled references to a conspiracy.
I see John Terry, the England Captain, has come out and defended Drogba's actions as have pretty much all the Chelsea staff and players. Are they for real? Utterly disgraceful.'Religion is killing each other over who has the best imaginary friend'

Eh? Richard Keys asked the questions because of what Chelsea had said and because the issue has been in the main stream media about Platini's hatred of English football. All three of the studio panel guests stated that there was no conspiracy in their minds.Originally posted by Ben_Itez View PostAbsolutely spot on mate. As for the behaviour of the players, it was a disgrace. Understandable but it is not on. Would Bobby Moore acted in such a manner? No. People can point to a change in modern culture, but I look at Rugby and see how well behaved the players our, and how respected the ref is, and that argument has no substance to it.
Last season Mascherano was rightly sent off for his disent agaisnt Man Utd. But since then the FA have not carried on with this approach. It now seems that JM was singled out and rather than the red card for that behaviour being the norm, it seems to be the only case.
I now that it was UEFA last night and not the FA, but that behaviour brought my mind back to this. Clearly put, if Chelsea are given free reign in England to act like that, they will continue to do so in Europe.Forwards.......

Two points. Just because you can justify a failing by physical frailty doesn't make it less of a failing. Secondly I don't buy it at all weaklings/midgets like Garcia and Benayoun have gone in for the 50/50s and put themselves in the line of fire so why shouldn't this be expected of Barcelona players.Originally posted by Joe King View PostThe only game I have seen Giggs play in a big game where he was good/excellent was against Chelsea at Old Trafford. Ferguson is mainly reluctant to play these two and Neville in the big games because they can't compete in that sort of pace anymore.
Of course Barcelona are going to lack physical bravery, look at the size of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi. Hardly six footers. For what they don't win in the 50/50s, they are unbelievably difficult to shrug off when they have the ball.
I'm not sure why people are so ready to excuse ineffectiveness because players play in an aesthetically pleasing manner."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
