    Fletcher

    from www.sportinglife.com

Darren Fletcher will miss the Champions League final after UEFA rejected Manchester United's protest against his red card at Arsenal.

United can still launch a final appeal but it is understood the club are unlikely to do so after UEFA made it clear there were no grounds for overturning the Scotland midfielder's dismissal in the semi-final.

Barcelona's protests over defenders Eric Abidal and Daniel Alves were also rejected by UEFA's control and disciplinary committee on Monday, and those players too will miss the final in Rome on May 27.

I think the fact that his sending off wasnt overturned means the Chavs could be in deep ****, as Uefa are backing the refs

Fabregas had a clear goalscoring chance and was hacked down - how many times will the Mancs think they can get away with their antics this season? Tought SH1T. C'mon Barca

          Barca without Alves and Abidal.

Rooney and Ronaldo to run riot.

Abidal being out isn't a bad thing. Alves on the other hand is.

fantastic player, shame he'll miss the final, what a waste for the footballing world that is. uefa should change the rules, and i don't mean like in two years, but right now, if a player of fletcher's calibre gets sent off in the semis, he's should be allowed to play in the final, regardless of the fact if his team actually make it to the final.

aaahhh, i'm thinking of not even watching the final, i mean who's there to watch? messi? henry? iniesta? all good players but definately not world class, and they just don't posses that little bit of flair, fletcher does, it's a shame, a real shame that.

I do think he should be allowed to play though, as well as Abidal. It doesn't seem right that a player should miss one of the biggest games of their career because of a mistake and a crap rigid system.

acually i do to, it's supposed to be the biggest match of the season, and fans should see the best the two teams have to offer.

didn't mendieta miss the final also a couple of years back, for time wasting? now that was a real shame

imo all of the cards should be deleted before the final, exept for like, brutal chalenges

I've always thought that in the World Cup too.

Looked to me that Fletcher's foot came round and played the ball.

It did. But only after he'd pulled him back.

He didn't pull him back at all. They both put their arms out to fend each other off at pretty much the same time. It was just jostling for position.

I dont think he pulled him back at all.

I think he squirmed his foot around Fabregas and got a decent enough touch on the ball to divert it away. Then, after this, he seemed to clasp his legs around Fabregas' legs and this caused Fabregas to go down.
