He's a great manager but he's a long way short of being a good man.
Not sure if he's a great manager too, this is open to debate for me. He's been around for 23 years; you won't see a manager around having those kind of liberties, maybe apart from Dario Gradi who hardly had the resources Fergie had. It certainly helped him, and the fact he owns every man and his dog in psychological battles, including Craig_H.

He's certainly good at what he does, but he's been aided by our decline and our post Hillsborough blues.

Now you're not showing any generosity of spirit. Eleven titles says he's a great manager. There's lots more evidence that could be cited but that statement alone is irrefutable.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Your obsession with me is similar to that of the mancs, with us.

You mean he tends to have the last laugh.

            Bloody Manchester Yoonited.

Anyway, I missed the bit in fredo's post about psychological battles and for me he's wrong - Ferguson lost the public battle this season. His and his squad's experience helped them pull through - the Villa game being crucial - but it's quite clear by the way he retreated after his side lost to us and the farcical Allardyce conspiracy that Rafa got the better of him.

It is also undeniable proof that "mindgames" do not determine the destiny of the title.

It seems you know your way with facts, surprising for a dog.

There's a fine margin between him losing the psychological batter IMO, because if we'd lost that game it could have been said that Rafa had completely lost the plot and Ferguson was a genius.

I think he's very good at getting under people's skin, cue Craig_H and his frequent rants against Fergie. Rafa's certainly done that also though (initially to Craig_H and then to Fergie).

Fergie deliberately riles opposition managers up, and Rafa's done that to him this season which is a refreshing change. By the same token, some supporters tend to get carried away too ...

Seriously Craig, you're making me lose my lucidity there. Why on earth do we have to worry about what Ferguson says or thinks!? We should worry about ourselves and our team FFS, not Man. Utd nor that cunt whisky nose. By getting 'carried away' we're giving him too much importance.
