What a ****. I'd say it was more like Ronaldo though what with the wink afterwards.

Shocking. Fair play to Rangers for fining him.

That's awful and what's worse is the referee fell for it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That's the first thing it reminded me of when i saw it
                Poor effort by the lad.
Fair play to Rangers for taking action against him, i bet alot of other clubs wouldn't have bothered.

its been happening for years emilyn hughes did a similar thing playing for england and francis lee was far worse than drogba i dont want to disillusion the purist but its something thats developed on the training ground the only difference is that lafferty was **** at it and got caught.

I just don't get what goes through their heads at times like this. They know they're on camera, they know they're gonna get caught and they know for sure its not going to end well for them. Idiots! Man the F Up

They're professionals, they're under pressure and the stakes are high. They'll do what's needed to win. So they pull shirts, block players, hack them down if needed and take a yellow or even a red card. None of that is exactly particularly moral behaviour. It's not that surprising when someone goes a little bit further and dives or feigns injury.

It's where you draw the line and in the heat of the moment I think it's understandable if a player - any player - crosses it. It's when they do it repeatedly and fail to learn from their mistakes (probably because they even fail to see them as mistakes) that they need to be sanctioned more strongly than Lafferty, rightly, will be.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Think it stems from being in the pressure of a title race. He did it because he was desperate to win the match and go top of the league. Pathetic though

fair and good post that fella. We all see our fair share of shirt tugging, shoulder grabbing etc but generally it's not THAT blatant if you know what I mean. What Lafferty did was just stupid and childish, that's whats annoying about it for me

I do think that it is a real problem that the authorities don't look at repeated and consistent simulation. It is hard for referees on the day with things moving as fast as PL and CL games do in particular to be sure but video evidence really can identify the likes of Drogba as shocking cheats on a consistent basis and some sanction should be applied.

Good call, I know some calls acn be difficult and it can be almost impossible for the referee to tell on the day but I think they need to introduce harsh penalties like bans for the players and points deductions if players continually behave like this
