You're assuming the 50k odd will still turn up week in, week out in the Championship - i'm not convinced.Originally posted by Darth Marty View PostAre they ****. If any team can come back from this its them, with their fan base they are guaranteed huge sums of cash each and every year so it will be a temporary thing for them.
The notion of their fans being passionate and providing this so called amazing support, is one of the biggest fallacies in the Premier League. They boo their team off regularly, make little noise during the game, and then glorify themselves as being super-fans. It's embarrassing. The expression 'sing when you're winning' was invented for those part time ****s.

Agree there mate all those ****ers do is boo their players and manager. I wonder how those two ****s who said to "fat Sam you don't know what your doing" feel tonight?
****ers got everything they deserved and it has been coming for years. The problem with Newcastle is their board listen to the Fans which is one of the biggest no no's in football.
Today at Villa the Newcastle fans didn't start signing until after the final whistle. Going down will give them a chance to get rid of the **** at the club from the players to the plastic fans and will give them a chance to rebuild. They have too much **** on mega money and now hopefully they will **** off and the club can start afresh. Newcastle united today are everything that is wrong with football so hopefully they will now sort their house out.

Newcastle won't be back up in a Hurry. You only have to look at the current squad. The majority of which are either out-of contract (Owen, Viduka) or past it (Butt and Smith, shame he wasn't relegated with Man United, he could have made it a hat-trick with the Uniteds) or players with no desire to hang around, a la martins.
That is some re-building task

I fear Michael Owen's current physical well-being is as a result of being overplayed for us when he was a baby.
He can still do a job in a better side.
Rumours from Jan time were he had done a deal with Man City
Rather see him there than NevertonThis post has been generated using 100% recycled pixels

I partially agree with you. Sure, they can be a right bunch of fickle ****s and they really stretch the term supporter, but they will still turn up week in week out.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYou're assuming the 50k odd will still turn up week in, week out in the Championship - i'm not convinced.

They are passionate and committed, they just think they're a bigger club than they are and have ridiculous expectations. And they don't deal well with those expectations not being met.
I seem to remember our lads being boo'ed a few times at one stage this season so they're by no means alone unfortunately.

It doesnt really matter what they do when they get there because the fact is if they turn up they are helping out financially. And turn up they will, in their tens of thousands. Granted a huge fanbase doesnt necessarily mean success but in this case I think they will be back up within 3 years and be better for it.

I can't see it to be honest, firstly I can't see him staying injury free for a whole season. Secondly the injuries have taken their toll on him, his pace has gone, and while his game doesn't soley rely on pace and he's still a decent finisher, I don't know how many managers would take him on because without his pace I'm not sure what he offers outside the box anymore. When he played for us the most league goals he managed in a season was 19, taking this into account and playing at a mid-table club I'd be suprised if he was getting 15 a seasonOriginally posted by Darth Marty View PostAs much as I dont care I have to say Owen isnt the geordies main problem, yes hes injury prone but the guy is still lethal in front of goal, pop him in a half decent team and get him fit and he will guarantee 15 prem goals. He would be a great addition to anyone outside of the top 4. Im glad the cunts went down though. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

All they needed was one goal and they'd have been safe. But the silence spoke volumes, compare their fans to the West Brom fans when they got relegated playing us.Originally posted by liverpooltj View Post

I'm not sure that you can make such bold predictions about what will happen in the Championship. Both Dowie and Keane resurrected clubs who looked completely ****ed in the Championship in recent seasons. They will have to buy well but I think they will have decent pulling power. It is a huge task but I think there is a decent chance of either a straight return or a plummet to league one.Originally posted by Bari View PostNewcastle won't be back up in a Hurry. A lot hangs on how many of the high wage wasters like Smith and Duff they can get rid of (a bit harsh on Duff as he at least seemed to put in the effort but he looks pretty spent to me)."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

They more or less need to rip the squad up and start again, which is probably no bad thing. The players they've had all season haven't been up for the fight, so will be useless in the ChampionshipThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
