Question,
Say Chelsea spend £100m odd this summer, buying players of the calibre of Aguero, Ribery etc. If they then beat us to the title, what would people's thoughts be on Rafa's position? I mean, would we really be expected to be able to match a team spending that much money, especially when at the moment there isn't a great deal between the teams.
I can't imagine we are going to have a massive amount to spend - we might be able to afford one big name signing, and then a few mid range (and even then that may require the sale of someone like Alonso).
I realise it is not just down to money, but they could potentially spend a hell of a lot more than us.
I realise that is all hypothetical, just thinking out loud really. Think of it as procrastination

In that hypothetical scenario we couldn't really be expected to compete. Staying close would probably be an achievement.Originally posted by Reece View PostQuestion,

bruce taking over at sunderland too"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

As rafa would say lets concentrate on our game, if we get 90+ points which is our aim for next year and chelsea beat us......I would be gutted but we couldnt do much more and we would have number six to cheer us up

I suspect that Ancelloti is a sign that they will be going with experience rather than potential. I can't see them buying many players or spending anything like £100m. However they will probably be able to pick two top signings without balancing the books the way we will have to.Originally posted by Reece View PostQuestion,

While Hiddink showed that there was more in the squad than Scolari got out I still think they have a lot of players who look like they need a new challenge and have several areas that need to be worked on. Ancelloti has never seemed to be about teams that play with pace so I would suspect that he might need time before he adapts to the PL. I'm no more worried about them next season than I was last season."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Well Chelsea wont be the only ones going bank roll crazy. I think that sooner rather than later the wage/transfer cap will come in as it's a bubble ready to burst and only benefits those with more money than sense. The football organisations are pushing more and more to "protect the game". At this point in time your Wengers will become as valuable as you can get and then we will see how Rafa can mix it in a overly competitive and fair players market.

Im not bothered about Ancellotti, he's nothing special and alot of the Milan fans wanted him out.
The only fear is what Abramovich does. If he goes and gives Ancellotti £100m to spend then they will be a big threat again. Will be gutted if they go and throw that kind of money around again after it took us the last 2 or 3 years to improve and get above them

Ancelotti will struggle at first to adapt to the PL IMO, however if he is given the first season to 'bed in' (unlike Scolari) he can bring them a lot of success.
Personally I think he should have waited for the Madrid job. Chavs will be delighted though given his CL pedigree."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

times this morning reckons that roman will only give the club money for a marquee signing but club should be self sufficient otherwiseOriginally posted by -V- View PostIm not bothered about Ancellotti, he's nothing special and alot of the Milan fans wanted him out.
