I have never drooled over the fact that Madrid want Ronaldo, I just think they deserve each other. Both are extremely hate-able.

I never liked Madrid's style of doing business - well before the Owen saga. They are like people who are in the designer boutiques and buy only the most expensive with no way of paying for it except an overdrawn credit
card. Then expect someone else to come in to help them because they are too big to go down. ( A bit like General Motor really)

And they are tapping up Xabi or at least his agent up big time which is against the rules but of course Madrid does not respect rules. I think they tapped up Ronaldo and Kaka as well, which i don't approve of either.

Signing for them too is like signing your life away - they own everything! Sponsorships etc. That's why I said no one in their right mind would sign for them. And also in footballing terms

They won't get Kaka unless Milan wants to sell, I am pretty sure of that so if you saw what I wrote, I was annoyed that Berlusconi would even consider it - selling Kaka I mean, especially given the recent quotes by Kaka.

I wasn't referring to you, just the general tone of the thread.

As much as i hate the mancs atleast they have got rich the right way through hardwork and success on the pitch.

Madrid are just crooks who find ways to get rich and clear debts by selling their training ground!!!!

I hope Perez buys these stars and Barca rip them a new arse hole next season.

        VIVA Barca!!!!
Your mate being Basque, most probably exaggerates his stories a tad. They are as one eyed as it gets, and hate the city of Madrid to the core.

Real Madrid has never been a fascist club. People with a memory know that Republicanos and Lefts - who lost the civil war - preferred Real Madrid to Atlético Madrid. Real Madrid CF was named after a bombed and occupied city, whilst Atlético Aviación (which was their original name) was de club of Franco's pilots (the ones who had bombed the city). Madrid had 'red' players like Del Bosque, keeper Miguel Ángel or Paul Breitner. Only their winning streak in the fifties and sixties was the reason that Franco's regime abused the club for his purposes out of opportunism - not vice versa. Real Madrid was actually a victim of the war. (Javier Marías)
Hate Madrid for all you like, but don't call them fascists if you don't understand the civil war and Franco.

Its equal to people shooting their mouth off about Hillsborough. My grandfather was a massive Madrid fan, and was definitely not a fascist. They left Madrid because of that ****. Franco and his followers were fascists. Real Madrid had no choice what happened. They were Franco's team. Its actually quite good reading for anyone interested in history, rather than spouting ****e about something they have no idea about.

Apart from the fact that Cannavaro has been a shadow of the player he was, I read recently he's 35.

I agree their defence is a mess but I don't think selling him is moronic.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I would think a move back to Italy will be good for all parties involved.

I have actually read into this myself and seen a few programs on tv about 'fascism in football' - really really interesting, especially the Real Madrid and Franco story.

oops... I originally typed that as they stupidly sold cannavaro without having already replaced him... must have deleted that when by mistake doh!!!

and of course you lot pick up on it hehe

I don't mean selling Cannavaro per se is moronic.. he'd be better off back in juve and then napoli.. he wants to go home to retire, he's already said

What I meant by that is that they sold him but have not bought themselves a replacement - ie who sells one of their starters without having a replacement lined up?

And currently they are linked with all sorts of attackers. Doesn't really look like they want to shore up that defence does it?

Have they bought any defenders that i haven't heard about?

Not a facist club? So we discount the huge finances he poured in to the club, match fixing, the repression of Catalan culture and language and recording 5 european cups won under his rule.

Perhaps they are an unfortunate victim to this but by god they live off of the glories there. They are what they are today because of this.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to "pick up" on anything. I thought your point was along the lines of Cannavaro was a world class defender they would have difficulty replacing.

Sadly he isn't any more so it won't be too hard.

Still, I get your drift now.

no offence meant about the "pick up" thing, only meant that with people in the forum so well up to speed with all things football, one better know one's facts
