    Ricardo Carvalho ready to quit Chelsea

    • Carvalho: last season was 'the worst year of my life'
    • Defender ready to leave club he joined in 2004

    * guardian.co.uk, Wednesday 3 June 2009 19.11 BST

    Ricardo Carvalho has admitted that he is likely to leave Chelsea this summer after an injury-plagued season led to him falling out of the starting line-up. A regular for most of his time at Chelsea, he made just 18 appearances last season and suffered what he called "the worst year of my life." The defender, speaking while on international duty with Portugal, alerted clubs to his availability.

    "First they have to reach an agreement with the club and then talk to me, but I am available for whoever wants me the most," Carvalho said. "It has been the worst year of my life, with injury after injury. I want to be where I feel good. It's obvious that it's hard now to respond to these questions because I had four fantastic years at Chelsea and this last year hasn't been good at all."

    Carvalho, 31, joined Chelsea from Porto for a fee of around £20m in 2004 and has made 174 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge.
    "The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

        could only see him coming in to substitute carragher as we need aggers youth and ability from the back.

        not what we need as good as he is

            What the **** does he expect? If hes been injured a lot then its a certainty that he wont have played as many games.
            ****ing dumb cunt.

                Aye, wouldn't surprise me if he's still at Chelsea next season.
                The season before last he was Chelsea's best defender, held them together many a game.

                      He will be a big miss for them. For years he has made Terry look a better player than he actually is.

                            I'd guess Inter.
                            If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
