most of those penalties were awful. Diaz's was easily the best.

Having Andros Townsend as a co-commentator is like having one of your mates from school telling you what's what.

I thought the Paraguay game the other night was funniest for the turn around in Micah Richards opinion of Paraguayan defending, from 'artistic' after the first half to - I don't what word he used at FT but brutal / illegal would be ones I would use. I hope this game actually provides for a little turn around, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the lowest scoring but longest lasting shoot out in history.

I think I'd expect 0-0 after going through each player twice.

Yes, like 'dig that out'. It was classic.

3 minutes into ET and 3 players down writhing in agony. Just blow for FT now and go straight to penalties saving us from this pain

I’ve watched the 2nd half on & off. Hardly the goal fest I’d hoped for.

    HE HELD NOTHING BACK????

Mostafa Ziko, an Egypt international, spoke right after the match that knocked them out of the World Cup, and his words sparked controversy.

"Congratulations to Argentina on the World Cup; the tournament was fixed, they didn't need anything else. the referee was unfair," he said immediately after the match to an Egyptian journalist.

According to him, his team was clearly in control at 2-0 when the referee started tipping the scales: a legitimate goal disallowed for a "marginal" foul, calls that only hurt his national team, and a penalty in the opposing box completely ignored.

“We played fantastically against the current world champion. But the referee, François Letexier, was clearly biased from the very start of the match. He constantly tried to stop us and wanted to silence us on the pitch,” he concluded.

Egyptian manager Hossam Hassan has come out firing after his sides elimination from the 2026 World Cup to Argentina ????????????

???? "We haven’t seen respect or fair play. A penalty was ruled out and a second (incident) that should have been checked for a penalty for us was not even checked by the VAR. A second goal was remarkably, for whatever reason, disallowed.

???? “There seems to have been pressure on the Argentinian side on the referee that has brought about this outcome.

???? “Life is unfair. The world is unfair. OK, but why isn’t there any fairness in sports? I’m not convinced by this outcome and by the way things unfolded in this match.

???? “The referee is unfair, God is sufficient for me and the best disposer of affairs. He’s wasting the effort of an entire nation. The cup is directed towards Argentina.”
Clearly he’s taken the loss well

They could go all the way back in the build up to deny Egypt their wondergoal, but didnt even consider BOTH fouls in the argie bargy build up.
