Sky Sports breaking news, no doubt straight from Dave Whelan himself. Two seperate bids in excess of £16m from Real Madrid and Man Utd for the services of Antonio Valencia.

Quality player, would have been wanting him for LFC had he been a LW as opposed to a RW. Not sure where all this leaves Ronaldo.

The whole Ronaldo deal is based on him having a buy out clause in his contract and that if Real do not trigger it they have to pay Ronaldo a huge sum as compensation. Perez has come in and is trying to back out the deal, but seems there is no way out.

I guess Ronaldo could play up front and Valencia on the right. Ribery on the left and Kaka in behind?

I'm only going on what the press report, I have no inside information. It was reported that Roman Calderon made a deal with Ronaldo and his agent last summer, when Ronaldo looked all set to leave.

It is said That Real agreed to buy him Man Utd for an agreed fee this summer, the fee which was set as an escape clause in his contract which he signed last summer.

It is also said that if Real Madrid do not buy him this summer, they have to pay a penalty fee to Ronaldo and his agent. Depending on what you read, the transfer fee is set at about £75m and the penalty fee is set at £25m.

So, if you believe all that it would indicate that Ronaldo to Real is 100% certain to happen.

On whether Ronaldo would want to go, I would guarantee he would. It's not that Perez doesn't rate him, more he thinks the fees agreed are very steep - when you consider he could sign Kaka and Silva for a similar fee. But as I said before, it appears there is no way out the deal without paying a £25m fee.

i have been quite suprised ever since the first links with real madrid and the mancs for valencia! - ok he is talented, but i haven't seen why two of the biggest clubs in europe seem so desperate to sign him and there has been little or no interest from anyone else

I can't help feeling that somehow he is just some kinda pawn in the whole Madrid/United/Ronaldo saga and in the end, once the dust has settled and madrid have got ronaldo for £80m, and united are happy, Valencia will prob end up at spurs
