Everton win race to sign England Under-21 starlet Fabian Delph

    By Football Spy 10/06/2009 [Mirror]

Everton have won the race to sign Leeds sensation Fabian Delph.

Blues boss David Moyes has beaten competition from Manchester United, Fulham and Sunderland to land the England Under-21 midfielder in a deal costing up to £4million.

Leeds have decided to cash in on Delph after failing to win promotion to the Championship last month.

Moyes watched Delph in action six times last season and believes the youngster has a massive future at Goodison Park.

Delph, 19, was voted the Football League's Young Player of the Year.

Anyone seen this lad play? What style of player is he and do you think he will be a success in the PL?

I have seen him play a couple of times but its hard to judge players in league 1. He is a box-to-box midfielder with all round ability. He has pace to run past players, he's a very good tackler, he can pass and he doesn't mind shooting from range. He def has the potential to be a top top player but its hard for me to judge exactly how good he is because he's been playing against League 1 standard.

Everton are sneaking a few of these signings in, like Arsenal on a shoestring.

Gosling was the last one, they could have a bright future.
