I really think we should make a big effort to sign Valencia, I'd love him to join us. He's got composure, pace and intelligence. He'd be a superb signing for us I reckon.

Valencia is an interesting one. If a few elements come together in his game he will be a really exceptional player I think. However the same could be said about Babel and Nani - I guess unlike those gambles he come ready adapted to the PL.

Very much doubt it is us though.

I haven't seen enough of him to judge. But I do wonder what other people are judging him on, the fact that he only plays for Wigan? I guess the same people would have said Barnes was a massive gamble at £900,000.

I think its a safe bet that if Utd & Real rate him so highly he certainly has something about him.

Barnes scored more goals every season at Watford than Valencia has in 3 seasons at Wigan.

Imo he is much, much better player than Babel and if we could do a straight "trade" one for another I would gladly take him

Yeah I dont rate him at all mate. He's got good physical attributes like you mentioned but he seems like he just doesnt really know how to score goals, and for a winger at that price it'd be a huge concern for me.

Obviously I dont expect him to get 20 a season for Wigan, but 7 goals in 78 league games aint to hot. And though it could improve at a bigger club with more possesion etc, i'd worry he'd be another Pennant and he is just clueless when it comes to scoring goals (though not quite as clueless as Pennant was)

Is right. He's a great physical specimen. However, his decision-making, composure, crossing, and finishing are all distinctly average.

Some would say he's a rough diamond. I'd say he's more like a fake diamond. That is, at first glance, he looks the genuine article, but if you scratch the surface he's really just a cheap imitation. I really hope ManUre waste a fat wad of cash on him finding that out.
