they are no longer taking any Direct debits from now on and all UK channels will cease at 6pm.Originally posted by Reece View PostSo does this mean I can just go ahead and cancel my Direct Debit? I kept forgetting to ring up and cancel with them
Not sure how this affects LFC TV tho. Celtic & Rangers TV has already gone apprently.
In a statement, Neville Kahn said: "After a huge effort by the Setanta board, management team and its backers, it has not been possible to save the GB business, which will be wound down in due course. This decision means that it will shortly cease broadcasting to its customers in Great Britain.
"However, the international and Ireland businesses continue to trade on air whilst we are in discussions with parties to take on those businesses as going concerns.
"Regrettably, approximately 200 employees will be made redundant in respect of the GB business. Setanta has today suspended the collection of subscription payments from customers in Great Britain.
"Setanta customers should go to www.setanta.com for further information. We can confirm that no further monthly subscriptions or direct debits will be accepted from customers of the UK business."

I got a pretty good run out of Setanta....i cancelled my subscription 18 months ago...they stopped taking money but never stopped the signal so it's been free ever since!!............if they did that with enough customers it's no wonder they went out of business!!..lol
it now says "SETANTA HAS CEASED TRADING IN GREAT BRITAIN" on my sky box.......but i'm still getting the LFCtv signal free....whoohoo!

Liverpool FC Statement about LFC TV: "LFC TV is currently broadcasting as normal and will continue to do so until further notice. However, following the announcement that Setanta GB is no longer trading, there may be some disruption to our service for UK television viewers. We wish to point out that our online and international viewers should remain unaffected and that Liverpool FC remains committed to the future of LFC TV.

I think so too + there is lot of websites (e.g. hxxp://channelsurfing.net/>> replace xx with tt) that you can watch espn, tnt etc online absolutely free.Originally posted by -V- View PostIf the US and Canadian setanta is still showing prem games then thats great as it will mean even more streams online. I watched most setanta games streamed on the net and now we will get espn streams too. excellentMember #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Does anybody know if ESPN have paid the same sum for PL rights as Setanta promised?
It doesn't appear to be mentioned anywhere.
Either way, I think I'm gonna have to pay more for those games next year if I want to watch them on the telly (got them as part of the Virgin package previously).
If I choose not to pay, (I'm considering not doing it), and the majority of viewers do the same, ESPN could concievably end up in the same boat in one or two years time.Oh I don't know.

I don't see why some people are happy about this? I know Setanta's customer service was crap, they weren't prepared for the way it took off initially but surely competition to Sky is a bonus for all of us? Sky is an absolute rip off.
I remember when I cancelled my Sky account a couple of years ago and the retention adviser was asking why, I told him that two years ago (before I cancelled) I was paying £32 a month for the full package, within 24 months it had shot up to £40. His argument was that they had to do it because they had to spend £500m or whatever it was for the EPL...he could not understand the difference between "had" to and "chose" too.
Sky just continue to pay over the odds for everything just to get the monopoly, up and coming ventures like Setanta have no chance, which is a real shame. It wasn't that long ago it was just ovver £30 for the whole lot but now I know mates paying £70 a month with HD, Multiroom etc.
How is anyone going to compete when the majority of the shows that sell the packages are owned by Murdoch anyway, Sky will always bid higher than anyone else will be able too for other packages such as Discovery, Nat Geo and MTV etc. Its a farce and needs to be looked at right away.
This is terrible news in my opinion.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."
