Can you imagine the uproar if Rafa came out and labelled a statement by a fellow manager as "absolute bollocks"? ****ing unbelievable the things this drunken old cunt gets away with.

Remember EA Sports?Originally posted by Reece View PostCan you imagine the uproar if Rafa came out and labelled a statement by a fellow manager as "absolute bollocks"? ****ing unbelievable the things this drunken old cunt gets away with.

It's not so much the ****e he comes out with, but rather the way the press treat his utterances differently.
City aren't really doing anything different to Utd and Chelsea. They are spending big and offering huge wages to attract players to the club. If they are going to break into the top 4 that's what they need to do, City have got a lot of catching up to do, so they need to spend quickly to build up their base, same as Chelsea did when Abramovich arrived. Utd have spent big on many players in the past and no doubt will do so again in the future.
If you want to be at the top in football today and compete for the big prizs you need to spend a lot of money, so it's ridiculous for anyone to have a pop at the likes of City for doing exactly that.
The problem is the media lap up everything Ferguson comes out with. The media reaction would be completely different if it was Rafa coming out with this stuff.

Because it's all entertainment. Jose did the same and people got riled up. Why?Originally posted by le2red View PostIt's not so much the ****e he comes out with, but rather the way the press treat his utterances differently.

Just sent this email to [email protected]:
They wont acknowledge it, of course.Alex Ferguson on Rafa Benitez:
"They are a big club and David Moyes, the manager, is doing a great job. He called them a small club, which points to his arrogance."
Alex Ferguson on Manchester City:
'It's City isn't it? They are a small club, with a small mentality. All they can talk about is Manchester United, that's all they've done and they can't get away from it."
Is it against the Manchester United-loving Sky Sports bible to mention Mr Ferguson's hypocracy?

I dont think many people are actually riled up though, it's just something we all already knew. Ferguson's a cunt and Sky are lodged firmly up his drunken arse.Originally posted by fredo View PostThing is Craig, the more people are riled up, the better for them. It ups their audience.
As for their audience - i would imagine it'd remain fairly consistent for something as minor as this.

Didn't Rafa actually say something like "when the smaller clubs come to Anfield they play a certain way" Or something like, he didn't even say it targeting the bitters as such, was just a general point he was trying to make iirc.Originally posted by yukpo View Postthats what i meant in the other post, when you win stuff you can talk as much **** as you want
though looking at it objectively, everton are a far bigger club than city
this hypocrisy is something he made for himself, im not sure rafa even meant to call everton a small club, as far as i remember he was complaining about evertons approach in one particular game
for him to come out and slate rafa for something that was a misunderstanding was just odd in itself
But obviously the press lapped it up and it's now gone down in history as Rafa's small club jibe about Everton, like he came out and said it in a ranting bitter ****ting bricks way a la Fergie today.
And what's all this nonsense about Fergie being able to talk ****e just because he's won stuff, he's earned the right to be considered a GREAT manager (**** person), that doesn't imo give him licence to insult, belittle and generally talk utter crap, not imo anyway, it may do to his mates in the press but they don't count for much to proper football fans.

I can't remember the exact wording, but it wasn't aimed direct however I think it was intended a little bit as a jibe, just a gentle dig nothing like the thing it was blown up into.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostDidn't Rafa actually say something like "when the smaller clubs come to Anfield they play a certain way" Or something like, he didn't even say it targeting the bitters as such, was just a general point he was trying to make iirc.
At least that's how I seem to remember it, I just can't remember exactly what it was.
