Well he wasnt an ex footballer when that photo was taken. He is now.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWell, for a start, he's now an ex-footballer isn't he. So if you frame your question to ask 'how many former footballer are a similar size to him?', then that would be a less interesting, but more accurate question. And I've not got the figures unfortunately.
As I said, you don't know if he has underlying issues (mental? physical? none?) which could have led to this. But that doesn't matter. He just simply didn't put enough effort into it.
Ok, so we dont know what his issues are. We dont have the full picture. But in that case, most threads of this forums are pointless. Because we dont know much about football really. Its speculation, and as such, its just speculation that he might have underlying issues. Neither of us can be sure.
But, what my point is, is that other current footballers might have similar issues. We just dont know because they try and look after themselves.
I have my trouble with weight loss and gain. All the time, its a constant fight. One I feel like giving up on. But I dont and as such my weight Yo-Yos around. Its only recently that I have finally gotten control of it with a strict-ish diet. Point being, if I can. Why cant he? Because he certainly looked to be in control 4 years ago when he was in the shape a footballer should have been in.*Except Michael, who died.

Yes, you're right. Almost all content in discussion forums is indeed completely pointless in the actual scheme of things. So in that vein, I've offered an alternative point of view and continued the discussion by pointing out that you're speculating at best, and making assumptions at worst.Originally posted by Alex View PostWell he wasnt an ex footballer when that photo was taken. I've already said I disagree with your PoV and explained my reasons why. So I guess I've run out of steam with regards to continuing this debate.
Good luck with conquering your own weight issues.
Oh I don't know.

I got confused about which one of you was criticising him more.Originally posted by Alex View PostTo be honest I was just about to post the same about not really caring about the debate
I just thought you were being dismissive about the 'Effort' comment. Meh.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
