I know he was seriously ill but i'm still quite shocked.
Proper legend in the game.

His love and passion for the game was unbelievable, I remember seeing him on SSN when he was Newcastle manager and the reporter asked him one question and Sir Bobby's answer seemed to go on for ages - he just loved talking about football.
A sad loss - a true Legend an a Gentleman. RIP Sir Bobby.
A man who inspired genuine affection in so many neutrals. The game will really be far worse without him. One of the last true footballing gents. Very sad indeed.
An absolute legend and a gent. For me I will always treasure the memories from the World Cups in 86 and 90 when we went so close. A true football man and more importantly a thoroughly decent chap who didnt deserve his shocking treatment at the hands of the press. Sadly a trend which continued after his departure as England manager although the subsequent incumbents were no doubt more deserving of such treatment.
Newcastle's current demise can be traced to their decision to sack him in 2004 after losing 2 of the first 3 games. Who did they think they were? He'd turned them round and saved them from relegation 2 years previously and brought them champions league football....but no that wasnt good enough for the hapless geordies. That decision and huge disloyalty alone is enough for them to deserve their current predicament.
He'll be sadly missed and the world will be a poorer place without him. RIP Bobby, YNWA.
First class post; I totally agree, absolute gentleman who will be sadly missed
One of my mates is a teacher and he used to go on the school holiday trips. On one of the trips he bumped into Sir Bobby in Barcelona and he really lived up to his reputation as a lovely bloke. He was an absolute star with the group of kids my mate was looking after and really was a proper gent.
