    Lets all laugh at Everton

    found this over on TLW.

    Hilarious

"A LIVERPOOL city trader has acquired the trademark to Everton FC’s official logo – The People’s Club.

Brian Gould, 58, a market stall trader from Walton and lifelong Everton fan was granted the rights to the phrase last year to sell his scarves and hats.

Although the phrase was coined by Everton manager David Moyes in his very first press conference at Goodison in 2002, the club did not protect their rights by registering it.

Mr Gould claims he first sold flags bearing the motif at the Scottish manager’s first away game at Derby.

The trader, also treasurer of campaign group Keep Everton In Our City, now wants Everton to sit down and discuss terms over his rights.

Club official merchandise has been designed with labels bearing The People’s Club logo and Goodison Park famously flies a banner with the brand.

Mr Gould’s barrister Francis McEntegart, of Chime Legal Services, wrote to Blues management in May informing them of his client’s rights.

Everton wrote back via their solicitors but Mr McEntegart was able to prove Mr Gould’s rightful ownership.

At Everton’s recent shareholder’s meeting, chief executive Robert Elstone said the club was planning to move away from using the phrase.

It will instead promote its famous Latin motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum – Nothing but the Best is Good Enough."

Its from the echo but can't find it online to post a link

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
