Away fans sitting in the home section

So, in a vain attempt to:-

a) Start a thread (that isn't about scouse)

b) Discuss a sensible topic (and not just post sarky retorts to others)

c) Attempt a to discuss a topic that's actually related to football (as opposed to monkeyface/spiderman/scouse/pics of people you hate etc.....)

How many of us have travelled to away games when you know you're gonna be stuck in with the home fans?

AND

How many of us that have done that, have gone mental when we find away fans sat with us?

From experience, I've only ever sat in the home section at Woodison, however have been at Anfield on numerous occasions when people have been lucky to get out alive (mainly manure fans).

Is there a fair amount of hypocrisy around or what?

I have been lumped in with the home fans at Elland Road quite a few times when we played them. It was interesting in there to say the least, quite a few headcases in there.

I've sat in the home end at Leicester (filbert street) and at Middlesboro, must admit didn't like it one bit even though i was with mates who were season tickets holders at the clubs. It just didn't feel right and not something i would like to experience again.
I don't mind sitting with away fans in the kop as long as there not a bunch of ******s! Only once have i had probs with opposing fans, derby game a few years ago there were about 5 everton fans sitting next to us who were nasty to say the least. I think if you are sitting in the opposing teams end you have got to show some respect unless you are built like a brick ****house or an olympic sprinter!!!

First (or was it the second?) Liverpool game I ever went to I was in the away end at Crystal Palace - FA Cup and we lost 3-2 despite Keegan scoring the first.

I've also been in the away end at Arsenal a couple of times - not a problem at all although I didn't exactly signal my allegiance.

It's horrible though - really takes away a lot of the enjoyment for me.

went to watch chairty shield in cardiff once, sat in the arsenal end, wanted to be in the liverpool end, atmosphere sounded great, then had to watch as gilberto scored a **** goal and these gunners went "crazy" , **** atmosphere

Agreed Slammer. You can't take the piss when you're in the wrong end.

I've been in the wrong end at Goodison twice (Gwladys), Sheff Wednesday, Man City (Kippax), Sheff United and Spurs. Every time bar Man City I ended up blowing my cover. No way was I opening my mouth on The Kippax. I usually come away from those games thinking "never again" but when the chance arises, and it's your only hope of a ticket, I always forget that and pile in.

The best lot to be amongst were Spurs fans; they were brilliant. Good banter throughout and good conversation after. One lad said to me at the end "this is not what we expect of a Liverpool side mate...didn't look like Liverpool at all". Yep, this was towards the end of the Houllier years.

Sheffield United was vile, Wednesday not much better, Everton fine the first time (0-0, Hutchison/Westerveld controversy at the end), and the second time I feared for my life (Gary Mac 44 yard free-kick day!).

I've encountered away fans in our end at Anfield, though only supporters of 'non-rivals' with the exception of Everton. I don't mind it at all, so long as they're not mouthy and obnoxious. I can just about tolerate them going mad when they score. Just.

Sat amongst some BAD Leeds lads a few years back at Elland Road. There was about 12 of them and me and my bro.
They were screaming for a foul and the ref didn't give it - and Howard_lfc jumped up and shouted "is ****ing right ref - he went down like a bag of ****e!!".
I was then politely informed that after the game was finished - so was I !!

So, underneath the stand at the end of the game - I was rolled over by a few of their lads. They had me arms out, pinned up against the wall, screaming in my face

Somehow I managed to push them off and got away - but they caught me up on the steps - calling me a big mouthed scouse *******.
They asked was I on my own? I told them no.
THey asked how many of us there was? And I told them about 6,000 !!
They went ballistic so I legged it down the steps and two of them followed me. But when I got to the bottom - I bumped into two mates of mine (thank god !!). So there was 3 of us and 2 of them. So I turned to the Leeds lads (grown men actually - skinheads) to see if they fancied their chances now the odds had changed. And funnily enough they didn't; they swiped my baseball cap off and ran away into the crowd......

That's the nearest I got to a kicking, although I was once head butted waiting for the 68 bus years ago after a Liverpool v Leeds night match. Some lad got out of their line whilst being marched back to their coaches on Utting Ave and just ran up to me and sent the 'ead in !!

Lasty sat with the Leeds fans when we played them in the Charity Shield a few years back. He ended up smacking 3 of them.

I've been in with the home fans only at Everton and Wolves and never had any bother. I was up off my feet celebrating when we scored even though I'd been sitting on my hands and biting my tongue. I wasn't the only one mind you.

I've also been in with the away fans a few times at Anfield just to get in, and again I had no hassle but found it incredibly difficult not to show my true allegiance. Sheffield United in the mid 90's was a difficult one to take especially. We lost 2-1 to a team destined for relegation.

First ever Liverpool match I saw was a dull nil-nil at mount doom in the Manure end in the mid eighties. I was only a kid though but got the Liverpool bug, I couldn't believe how good Jan Moby was. I was in the Manure end a few years ago in the FA cup when Owen scored early doors and some other reds round me went mad, they took a bit of a slap and then got kicked out. I managed to stay quiet, wish i hadn't in the end as we lost 2-1.

I have been in the Citeh end a few times too as a few of my mates are season ticket holders. The funniest was when Schmichael was playing for them and Owen was going through a drought (you can always rely on Citeh letting a few in). I can't remember if Owen scored two or three but I was behind Schmichael and gave him loads of abuse for being and ex-manure and all these Citeh lads started giving him abuse too! Again after that though I saw some other reds get into a bit of bother with some of Citeh heads.

Many moons ago i watched LFC at notts county in their end, but created more of a stir when I went to Elland Road as a guest of Leeds (Strakens last game for Leeds). When being introduced to Speed (Gary) he asked who was my favourite player (the lass I was with was already kissing up to him) he looked quite shocked when I unzipped my jacket to show my LFC shirt (meeting over). We won 2-1, I appeared to be the only one cheering in the home end when LFC scored the first but by the second goal Red shirts popped up all around me, much to my relief.

He was accosted by another 3 of them but got away and legged it. Every man for himself in situations like that. There were too many of them.
