NEW YORK (CBS) It's not extreme fighting... It's not boxing... It's not even hockey. But a women's college soccer game offered its own brand of "combat" of a not-very-sporting kind.
VIDEO: Elizabeth Lambert Makes a Mark (RadarOnline.com)
In an NCAA west conference semi-final game, Elizabeth Lambert of the University of New Mexico had some physical run-ins with opposing players from Brigham Young University, leading some to question if Lambert's actions crossed the line.
The video of Lambert's actions was shown by ESPN, and in perhaps the most arresting incident she blatantly pulled the hair of a BYU player, snapping her head back in the process.
Just a game?
BYU did win 1-0 to advance to the finals. The season is over for Lambert's New Mexico squad, but probably not the post-game trash talking.
Everyone's saying on the comments on this link "she should be banned for life", "prison sentance wouldn't be enough" etc, on here we're imagining her in the sack...
Hello mert.

brings a new meaning to the phrase "plays like a girl"
stuff like that happens all the time(exept for the pony tail pull, that's just vile), i remember one player saying that his balls turned color blue every time he played against Nesta, from all the pinching and pulling, so there's a lot of stuff going on the cameras don't show.

The 20-year-old has been banned by her college team, the University of New Mexico Lobos, after acting like a woman possessed during a crunch match against rivals Brigham Young University last week.
Lambert can be seen kicking, punching and even yanking one opponent to the ground by grabbing her ponytail.
Incredibly, she was only booked during the game for kicking the ball into a tumbling opponent's face.
But following an uproar, the University of New Mexico suspended her indefinitely from all athletic facilities and programs.
Lambert released a grovelling apology, stating: 'I am deeply and wholeheartedly regretful for my actions.
'My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation.
'I take full responsibility for my actions and accept any punishment felt necessary from the coaching staff and UNM administration.
'This is in no way indicative of my character or the soccer player that I am. I am sorry to my coaches and team-mates for any and all damages I have brought upon them. But I am well happy that some men on a Liverpool forum would like to shag me'
'I am especially sorry to BYU and the BYU women's soccer players that were personally affected by my actions. I have the utmost respect for the BYU women's soccer program and its players.'
