Funny how Mr Ferguson doesn't complain about the referee not being in a good position to see that incident....

      Fergie to escape FA caution
United boss will not be punished for Atkinson comments
By Chris Burton Last updated: 9th November 2009

Sir Alex Ferguson will not face any action from the Football Association following his remarks on Sunday.

The Manchester United boss was critical of the performance from referee Martin Atkinson during the Red Devils' 1-0 defeat at title rivals Chelsea.

He felt the award of a free-kick which led to the Blues' winner was wrong and branded Atkinson's positioning for the resulting set-piece as 'absolutely ridiculous'.

Ferguson, who has been very vocal in his condemnation of Premier League officials of late, admitted he is starting to lose faith with the men in the middle.

It is understood, however, that his latest outburst will not be punished by the FA as he did not question Atkinson's integrity or suggest there was any bias.

      Tug
The incident which incurred Ferguson's wrath began to unfold when Darren Fletcher was penalised for a foul on Ashley Cole.

From the resulting free-kick John Terry nodded the only goal of the game, but United felt that a tug on Wes Brown by Didier Drogba helped the ball into the net.

Ferguson told Sky Sports afterwards: "Clearly, Darren Fletcher's won the ball - Ashley Cole's never touched and has jumped up in the air - and then Drogba's pulled Brown to the ground for the goal.

"The referee's position to make the decision was absolutely ridiculous - he can't see anything. He's got a Chelsea player (Joe Cole) standing right in front of him - and he doesn't even move.

"It was a bad decision, but there's nothing we can do about it. You lose faith in refereeing sometimes, that's the way the players are talking in there - it was a bad one."
I am to understand that now unless you question the referee's integrity or accuse him of being biased you won't get charged by the FA? Surely this is a change of policy?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So Rafa's 'glasses off' gesture - how does that tie in exactly? How was that questioning Dowd's integrity? It's a ****ing disgrace.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Cant believe theyve even got the nerve to complain about the ref! Evans should have had a straight red and Fletcher was that disgraceful it was almost as if he was actually trying to get sent off.

How he escaped without even a yellow is remarkable.

I liked the pregame stuff, showing Fletcher breaking up play and them creaming themselves over him...i thought "that's the same **** Lucas does and he get's branded as a liability" by the same fricken pundits.

None of the sky lot have called Lucas a liability. But the upshot is that in the Man U team Fletcher is the only midfielder capable of breaking up play. When he does not play they miss him. In the Liverpool team, Gerrard and Aquilani are the only midfiledrs with a creative spark and since Gerrard plays up front it is Aquilani who is missed.

The best player is always the one not there when things are not going well.

its only our own fans who call him a liability

also to think its taken fletcher 4 years and he is now there midfield kingpin i think thats more an iindigment on Scums midfield though!!

Its fair to see Lucas and fletcher are both good back up players, but should not be first 11 in a title winning team

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong but wasn't Drogba booked after this incident? Was that for something he said to the referee?

He was booked for simulation I think. Absolutely hilarious to see him get hit like that and get booked for his troubles, nothing more than he deserves the cheating ****.

That, the guy brushing his teeth and Fergies violent shade of red face at the end made it a fun Sunday afternoon all round.

                      Ancelotti unhappy with Reds

Carlo Ancelotti accused Manchester United of trying to influence the referee during Chelsea's 1-0 win.

In a stormy second half, Darren Fletcher waved an imaginary card at referee Martin Atkinson in an apparent attempt to get Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho dismissed.

The Blues boss said: "The Manchester players protested a lot. I don't know why. I don't like this."

                      You tell them, Carlo!!

What has happened to the respect campaign? Not just yesterday but a number of times this season Man Utd players have surrounded the referee when a decision goes against them (although other clubs do it as well they're still by far the worst) and it's very rare that anything is done.

While I must admit I find it difficult to have sympathy for him, that was an awful challenge and Evans should be punished IMO
