    Euro 2012 Seedings

I've not seen this posted elsewhere so...

    England among top seeds
Scotland in third group along with Northern Ireland

England have been named among the top seeds ahead of the draw for Euro 2012 qualifying.

The Three Lions failed to make it through to the 2008 edition of the tournament in Austria and Switzerland but they returned to form in World Cup qualifying.

Fabio Capello guided his troops to top spot in their group with nine wins out of ten and they remain one of the highest ranked nations in Europe.

Scotland, however, have fallen down the rankings and are now in the third band along with Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Wales are among the fourth seeds, with the nine qualification groups set to be drawn in February.

Pot One: Spain, Germany, Holland, Italy, England, Croatia, Portugal, France, Russia.

Pot Two: Greece, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey, Denmark, Slovakia, Romania.

Pot Three: Israel, Bulgaria, Finland, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Pot Four: Slovenia, Latvia, Hungary, Lithuania, Belarus, Belgium, Wales, FYR Macedonia, Cyprus.

Pot Five: Montenegro, Albania, Estonia, Georgia, Moldova, Iceland, Armenia,Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein.

Pot Six: Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Malta, Faroe Islands, Andorra, San Marino.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The only wonder in that is how Russia is seeded in the first pot, what have they achieved in international football in the last 20 odd years?

40% of how teams are rankned are from qual. for the 2010 WC and 40% Euro 2008/qual. for euro 2008 and additional 20% is for the WC 2006 and qual. for WC 2006...so i'm guessing them being in the semis of euro2008 had something to do with it.

yeah its kind of a big deal, we've been there before mind, and it did not end all that well with the spat between Zahovič and Katanec, but previous qualifications were acieved somewhat through luck(the ačimovič goal from the half way line, and osterc's van basten-esque goal against romania) but it's a completely diffrent thing this, this team has had zero luck, it's all been hard work over and over again and they managed to play some loveley football along the way.

and with the seedings and how arogant the russians were, it was just so great to beat them.

                and cheers to you to
