Must have had a huge habit . I would say that to get through that amount each and every week gambling would be more likely a reason.

Yeah I agree. Probably a regular in Newcastle casinos. They must have loved him

Gambling, surely you can't put £40k up your nose every weekend?!

It's a bit like when Mike Tyson and Michael Jackson can go financially broke but just wasting there money on nothing

Come on folks you're being a bit tough on him here. Remember he played for Newcastle and no amount of drugs, alcohol, hookers or debauchery can erase that painful memory. Fair dues to him!
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

****ing crazy considering where he comes from! You think he would save it and help his family out and considering he grew up poor would value every penny he earned! Makes me ****ing sick.

Have any of you considered that maybe he spent so much money because Newcastle is full of wonderful and interesting things to do!

Oh, and I met Oba Martins in Whitley Bay on bankers a few years back. He was a top fella but didn't buy me a pint. Now I understand why. Had I know this back then I would have probably bought him one.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Obafemi Akinwunmi Foluwashola Oshadi Martins (born on 28 October 1984) allegedly.

Signed by Reginna in 2000, from his local club FC Ebedie. Signed by Inter in 2001 and was part of their victorious under-18 side.

So he could be 25 then??
