spurs scored nine times whereas wigan only scored one goal - a winning margin of eight clear goals. this victory is worth three points - regardless of the amount of goals scored - to spurs in the league system. as losers, wigan receive no points.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostJust saw the result, WTF?

This still bugs me...Wayne Rooney did the same thing for England, where it hit the post and rebounded off the keeper into the net, and Rooney was credited with the goal, yet every othertime i've seen it happen, it's gone down as an own goal (quite rightly, as the original shot was off-target). Why the special rule for Rooney?
Edit: UEFA Quote "Video replays showed that Rooney's shot hit the post and went in off the back of Swiss keeper Jorg Stiel's head.
But Uefa spokesman Rob Faulkner said: "The original shot was on target so we confirm that Rooney is the scorer."
It hit the post, without a touch from the keeper...how is that on target??Last edited by Scratch; 23-11-09, 11:13 AM.

I didn't see that game but I really don't think he does consistently. In fact most of the time he looks like Riise asked to play in midfield.Originally posted by wiw View PostCan't believe we weren't in for Kranjcar for that money

He did play a really nice pass through for one of Defoe's goal, and my first thought was "I bet someone on EST will point out that you don't see Lucas doing that"Originally posted by dww View PostI didn't see that game but I really don't think he does consistently. But the pass was on the counter attack, and unfortunately our midfielders don't really get many occasions to play a pass like that, due to teams sitting back against us. Even Citeh did so for large chunks of the game. So I'm not sure if Kranjcar would be able to do that sort of thing against a tightly packed defence.

It isn't a shot that hits the post is counted as off target.
I don't know why Rooney's was a exception, probably so the FA press and pundits could worship him.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Bizarre.
And Defoe has become a fantastic finisher.

From what I can see, he's just one of many Croatian players who are fantastic technically, and he has the added bonus of being tall and still great on the ball. Mentality etc is another thing I suppose, and something Rafa looks at, so maybe that's why. Still...we desperately need more players with his technical ability

He did two absolutely brilliant passes with the outside of his boot on MOTD, and the second was inch-perfectSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

I hadn't seen Dave's post at the time I made mine but loads on here think he's ****. I don't think he's a world beater but he's technically excellent and has a great eye for a pass. One of those who can struggle in a poor side but excels in a good confident team.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
