Agree about Milner and more so about Lennon. Milner is the more Rafa type of player who can do the defensive work as well. Out of the 2 I would much prefer Lennon though.

I've been guilty of writing off Lennon in the past but he has certainly kicked on recently. I think in many ways both he and Milner are prime example of the fact that people write off players development much too young on here and in general discussions you have about football.

I think Lennon has been brilliant this season. His major weak point previously was his crossing, but that has improved 10 fold.

One of his crosses yesterday was just sumptuous. Torres would thrive on that kind of service, but can Lennon show genuine consistency? if he does, there is no way we will be able to afford him.

Would be great if Lucas can prove his doubters wrong too.

What i'm seeing here are posters who never rated Milner, but now do because of just this seasons form, imo Milner is somewhere between the on form player he is now and what we've seen previous seasons from him.

In that he's a good solid option, workmanlike, committed, but ultimately nothing special.

If he were to continue this form consistently season on season then i would look again, but i don't expect him too, i just think he's that type of player, one who'll never quite consistently push those boundaries that great players do.

Workmanlike is how i would describe Milner, nothing wrong with that though, every team needs them.

I think the thing is that Milner is one of the better players in the league. He's no Messi but he is a very good player. I'm not convinced that he has improved greatly I just think he is now playing more consistently in a team that suits his style. He is special at least in English terms in that he is both tactically disciplined and creative.

I've always rated Milner. Used to see him play a lot for the England U21's (alright I know it's not exactly the world stage) and he always stood out and impressed me. Has done as well when he's had a chance for the senior team.

Would be interesting to see how Liverpool played with him and Lennon on the wings.

Is he really that creative though, does he have real vision, or is he just your down the wing cross the ball type player, rather than an edge of the box cute pass type one, what i mean is does he regularly spot those balls other players don't wherever he is on the pitch, must say i've not seen that in his game.

But then again creative is creative, even if it's always from the same part of the field.

Ok, how about this as a scenario:

                        Sell Torres for £70m

Buy Milner £20m, Lennon £20m, and say Džeko for £20m.

                        Tempted?

But that would solve our 'depth' problem no?

Lennon is quite injury prone i think and it wouldnt we would still be short up front.
