obvious. sad. hope the club survives.

the top clubs will survive being cast adrift due to their fanbase but at this level, saddled with high wages and the like, it could be the end.

Sadly it was always going to end in tears. Feel sorry for them but it's becoming a common story with foreign investment in football. Fans think their prayers have been answered and then it all turns bad - we should know. Where is it all going to end?

Total shambles. Same situation as what happened at Pompey.

Notts County's owners Munto Finance have put the club up for sale, reports BBC Radio Nottingham.

It is understood that there are already potential buyers including director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson and executive chairman Peter Trembling.

They are thought to be in talks with Notts about a possible buyout.

They are 4th. Much better goal difference than the two above them (better than 1st as well).

Notts County said this morning that its executive chairman, Peter Trembling, is mounting a management buyout of the club. It was reported earlier this morning that County's owners, Munto Finance, have put the club up for sale and the club is saying that Trembling is favourite to take over.

The Nottingham Evening Post reported that Trembling was in London yesterday seeking financial backing to take over the club.

Since its takeover in the summer, the ownership of the club has not been clear. Munto Finance is the direct owner of the club, and it in turn is owned by Qadbak, the company which was thwarted in its bid to take over BMW Sauber.

The club claims that Sven-Goran Eriksson, County's director of football, is involved in the management buyout, but it is not believed that he is central to the plan, nor that he has been involved in any detailed proposal. Eriksson has recently been disquieted by the non-appearance of a multimillion-pound sum that he was promised from the flotation of Swiss Commodity Holding, a resources company whose logo is at the heart of the new Notts County club badge.

This is the latest stage in a turbulent few months for the League Two club. Having been taken over in July, there has been ongoing speculation over the exact ownership structure of County, with the Football League renewing its inquiries into the exact makeup of Munto Finance last month.

That followed Sol Campbell's brief spell at Meadow Lane as well as the sacking of Ian McParland as manager.

Notts County manager Hans Backe resigns from his job

Notts County manager Hans Backe has stepped down from his role after just seven weeks in charge.

The 57-year-old was installed as successor to Ian McParland on a three-year deal on 27 October.

Backe is a friend and former assistant to director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson and was linked with the Sweden job before moving to Meadow Lane.

Last week the club's chairman Peter Trembling completed a takeover from Middle East owners Munto Finance.

Backe's departure is the latest twist in a saga stretching back over the last five months since Munto took over the League Two side.

Aye. I think it's really sad though.

What's worse is that it is only one symptom of how badly organised the lower leagues have become and how ****ed up it all is. I think that there should be a top to bottom review of how football is run in the country with the aims of preserving teams with local links and encouraging youth development rather than the usual push to get more money at the top end (in this instance I mean the Championship as opposed to PL as it is organised separately but the push for the PL2 is one of the worst money obsessed, soul destroying ideas since the origin of the PL and should be resisted at all costs).
