I've never seen an Ashton Martin retire before. They're normally very reliable.

He was awesome in that cup final. Amid all the excitement of what a ****ing great match it was and Stevie's two blockbusters that kind of got forgotten.

At one stage I thought he have been a great signing for us. He was a clever player - style of play reminded me of Sheringham.

Sad news he has had to retire.

Jesus mate - I don't think even Joe King would have stooped this low

Feel sorry for Ashton. He was a good player with the potential to be even better.

I wish him all the best in whatever he does next.

Let's hope he doesn't become a pundit then.

He'll have to study for his PhD in stating the bleeding obvious first. Give him three or four years.

It's a shame as he looked like he could have been a very good player

Good luck to him in whatever he does next
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We'll probably be in for him now that a couple of slots have opened up on our injury table

But in serious, its a damn shame to be prohibited doing what you love at the age of 26...he probably will stay in or around football in some capacity as i doubt, like most other players, he's equipped with other skills or abilities...

Wonder if he will get some kind of benefit game or testimonial, and if he will be making an insurance claim for lost potential earnings.

                            Haha so it would.

A few people likened him to Shearer, i always thought he was a different type of player to big Al.
