Englands National Anthem

    Englands National Anthem

    Right!

    I don't know about what anyone else thinks on here.. but, as an Englishman it does get on my nerves that England have the British National Anthem sung at International Football Matches. Their used to be a time when the flags were the Union Jack at games... now they're all The Cross of St George.

    I for one want us to have our own National Anthem!

    The Scots have Flower of Scotland
    The Welsh have Land of My Fathers
    The Northern Irish have The Soldiers Song.


    So, why can't we have our own National Anthem for England.

    The Scots are prouf of being Scottish as are the Welsh and Northern Irish and I respect them for that.

    I am a proud Englishman and I want to have an Anthem for my Country.

    I'd rather just have a national anthem that didn't rejoice in the outdated concept of monarchy. It could be ****ing crazy frog for all I care, anything other than the current one.

      The Soldiers Song (Amhrán na bhFiann) in Irish
      is the anthem for the Irish Republic not the north. but for the rugby both north and south play as one country and use Irelands Call as well.

        I do think it's strange that the English don't have their own identity, we are just British.

        Also I don't like the idea of a national anthem about one person (The Queen), but that's a different point all together

                          How about God Save the Queen by The Sex Pistols or Ghost Town by The Specials.

                          Ghost Town has already been used as the national anthem of Ireland (see Father Ted) so it has previous for this kind of thing.
