Wigan have opened talks about a January move for Chilean defender Waldo Ponce.

The international defender, 27, is available for transfer at Argentine side Velez Sarsfield.

And Latics boss Roberto Martinez is very interested in signing the star to bolster his defence.

Ponce is willing to move to England - but only on a long-term contract.

I can't see it being a popular choice to have on the back of your shirt.
