I never knew that Cook had said Lfc had tried to recruit Mancini before City to replace Rafa, what a tosser, what a complete and utter cock, he's on the rack at a press conference so he comes out with that, the guy is a prick.
London, Dec. 24 : Liverpool FC are angry over claims made by Garry Cook, the chief executive of Manchester City, that the former had approached Roberto Mancini to replace Rafa Bentez as manager. Cooks latest controversial comments have landed him in hot water with the Liverpool hierarchy, who have refused to comment.
Privately, however, they have not been impressed by his outburst, The Times reports.
Cook has been at the centre of a storm of negative publicity after the sacking of Mark Hughes last Saturday and the subsequent appointment of Mancini as manager.
In particular, Cook was criticised after he claimed that Mancini had not been offered the job until last Thursday, but it has emerged that the decision to replace Hughes had been taken three weeks ago.
Benitez will also see Cooks comments as an unnecessary distraction as he attempts to reinvigorate Liverpools flagging fortunes.

But Mancini - appointed in controversial circumstances following the sacking of Mark Hughes on Saturday - has rubbished suggestions that he had spoken to Reds' owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostI never knew that Cook had said Lfc had tried to recruit Mancini before City to replace Rafa, what a tosser, what a complete and utter cock, he's on the rack at a press conference so he comes out with that, the guy is a prick.
When asked by Sky Sports News whether he had spoken to Liverpool, Mancini said: "No, never. Liverpool have a good manager. Rafa (Benitez) is a good manager. Absolutely not."_____________________________________

Looks as though the only disharmony it'll be spreading will be at City, now that Mancini has publicly denied it, which is more or less like saying Cook was talking through his arse, as good as.Originally posted by Scratch View PostTop class mind games from a club challenging for that CL spot, that could go one way or the other...it'll either spread disharmony throughout the LFC ranks, or it will make the players band together...lets hope it's the latter.
Roberto Mancini cooks up more trouble for Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook: I never spoke to Liverpool about job.

Roberto Mancini has added to Garry Cook’s ever increasing laughability
factor by insisting Liverpool never made an approach for his services.
Manchester City chief executive Cook suggested on Wednesday that the Italian had been contacted by Liverpool at about the same time Jurgen Klinsmann met with
representatives from the Anfield club last year.

Red faced: Garry Cook (R) is left embarrassed by new boss Mancini's admission
In trying to justify his handling of the Mark Hughes sacking, Cook claimed it
was common for clubs to sound out new managers long before they had sacked the man in the hotseat.
But Mancini dismissed Cook’s allegation. ‘Me? No, this is false — Liverpool never contacted me. They have a good manager.
'Rafa is a good manager, so no, absolutely they haven’t contacted me.’
Over to you, Garry.Last edited by Vermilion; 28-12-09, 10:49 PM.

Sure, Shaggy, sure.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI remember this
..if I remember rightly we'd just lost at hopeless, bottom of the league Portsmouth. It was one of those extremely low moments straight after a defeat...possibly the lowest moment of the whole season - hence the
