Yeah - I watched him play a fair few times a couple of seasons ago. He is average. Well considering he's a striker, he doesn't score enough goals. He's skillful. He's a similar player to the likes of Diomansy Kamara and Jason Roberts. Actually, he's not really an out and out striker. He's kind of like an attacking midfielder/striker. He will flop but for free I'd take him. He's definately not worth £9m.My kebab comes with chilli sauce

right now I'd take all of them and rebuild the squad from scratch
GK
reina - back up james
Defence
johnson - back up belleti
Carragher - back up Metzelder
Agger – Back up skrtel
Aurelio/insua
Centre mids
Mascherano – back up lucas/ Ledley
Aquilani – back up ballack/lucas
Right mid
Maxi Rodriguez, with kuyt/cole/yossi if needed
Left mid
Joe cole with Adam Johnson and Petrov as cover
Behind the striker
Gerrard – backup rosicky/benayoun
Strikers –
Torres – back up Ngog, Ruud Van, Adriano
**** me - that looks like a pretty good ****ing squad right now
Plenty of cover, couple of young lads still in there, many different options and formations for sure.
you could drop gerrard back alongside mascher, move cole in behind torres, play petrov at left mid! or if needed go 4-4-2 - the list of possibilities is endless! do it rafa! do it now!Last edited by PTP; 04-01-10, 01:36 PM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Since joining real has has played what 20 odd games. I'm not as convinced of his recent quality either (although I will admit that, partly by necessity, this is based on limited sampling of international games). I admit that it is hard to believe that he would be worse that Skrtel on current form I think blocking players development for the future for the sake of older players who will need time to adapt doesn't seem like the greatest long term plan. He is massive though which could be handy - assuming he was better than Kyriagakos.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostMetzelder is a world class centre back - as good as & maybe even better than Carra, Agger & Skrtel imo..."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Whenever I've seen Metzelder play, which is not that often admittedly, he has always looked technically accomplished. He's a much better footballer than Skrtel or The Greek. I think he's become somewhat lost in the Madrid shuffle and could still do a decent job for a big club.
From that list Johnson and Joe Cole would be very nice.A humble guy with healthy desire.

Real is being run by a bunch of incompetent idiots - that's why they will once again win nothing this season. You yelling me Raul Albiol & Pepe are better centre backs than Metzelder? You must be joking!Originally posted by dww View PostSince joining real has has played what 20 odd games. I was partly assuming a large part was down to injury. As far as I can tell Pepe is almost comically inconsistent but when on it is very good. Not seen enough of Albiol to comment.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostReal is being run by a bunch of incompetent idiots - that's why they will once again win nothing this season. he's a beast of a player nowadays, and scores his fair share of goals - 22 in 42 appearances last season and 7 in 14 apps this season. he's 25 and is just coming into his prime, so i'd take him in a hearbeatOriginally posted by saj View PostYeah - I watched him play a fair few times a couple of seasons ago. i'd also take joe cole and adam johnson form that list. joe ladley i've heard about but havent seen him play, but he might be worth a punt aswell.Jürgen Klopp

That's incredibly harsh. Chamakh does do a lot of donkey work and has improved his general striking under Laurent Blanc. He's quite skilful and fairly elusive in his approach play. I like him.Originally posted by saj View PostYeah - I watched him play a fair few times a couple of seasons ago. He is average. Well considering he's a striker, he doesn't score enough goals. He's known in Germany along with Mertersacker as 'Tweedle Dee' and 'Tweedle Dum'. They can't trust the pair of them in the Fatherland.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostMetzelder is a world class centre back - as good as & maybe even better than Carra, Agger & Skrtel imo...
