    Arsenal speed tests

Always find these fairly interesting. They have some ****ing pace at that club. Clichy is like **** off a shovel and can't make the top three.

Theo Walcott is not only Arsenal's fastest current player but he has also broken Thierry Henry's sprint record at the Club.

In an exclusive webchat with Arsenal.com on Tuesday, Arsène Wenger revealed his quickest three players over 40 metres were Walcott, Carlos Vela and Armand Traore, with the Englishman pipping the other two on the line.

In fact the former Southampton striker has even snatched the sprint crown from his predecessor in the No 14 shirt.

"The fastest three players I would say are Theo Walcott, Carlos Vela and Armand Traore," said Wenger. "And yes Theo is the fastest.

"He has the record on 40 metres. I think it's 4.72 seconds or something like that.

"Thierry was very fast as well, 4.82secs. I don't guarantee [the time] but it is in this area.

"Certainly Theo could have been a 100 metre runner. But Carlos Vela is very fast as well and Armand Traore is not far behind him."

I remember when we signed Sean Dundee (anyone remember him?) in 1994 i think. Anyway it was reported that he was winning all these kind of speed tests at Melwood. Didnt seem to help him a great deal, did it?!

It was 1998, didn't he claim to be faster than Michael Owen at the time?
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I remember reading that Pongolle was our fastest player, quicker even than Cisse, the year he joined.
Shame Cisse had no control of the ball, though.

I must say Cisse is the fastest player I've ever seen in the flesh. Before his first leg break. I remember one sprint in particular, at Anfield...can't remember who against but he covered about 70 yards like Usain Bolt. It was unreal.

Didnt realise Vela was so fast.

Ok who'd make our top three?

                      Degen, Babel, Torres?

Johnson maybe....cant really think of any other speed merchants.

Yeah it's got to be between Babel, Degen, Torres and Johnson. There's no-one else with any pace! Mascher's nippy and quick for his role but wouldn't be considered a pace merchant . Maybe Amoo of the youngsters, he seems very quick.
