When you're worth nearly £30m, £1.7m is comparatively little.

The main point is that he has absolutely zero NEED to do what he's doing. He's just looking for another £1.7m to chuck onto the pile. Pretty cuntish.

You like to think the majority of footballers have a certain level of respect and recognition for the game and would do what they could to uphold it's stability.

It's not like a normal business, football clubs are things of severe emotional attachment to a huge number of people. Campbell clearly gives **** all about that.
Nonsense, he has as much right to any monies owed to him as anyone else.

I'm not saying he doesnt have the right to it. Where did i say that?

I'm saying, as a gesture, to show some compassion and just to help out a traditional football club which game him his last major honour, he could do the decent thing.

If someone's minted and doesnt need it, but is still willing to press the issue home and help send the club out of business, then he's being a cunt.

Even a footballer has more brains than not to chase £1.7 million quid, even on footballers wages that sort of money is not to be sniffed at. As for compassion, Portsmouth got themselves in to this mess.

Maybe a millionaire footballer should have a bit more respect for the game that made him what he is, and gave him the lifestyle he has.

£28m in the bank - would you go all guns blazing after Pompey in this situation, for £1.7m?

          I certainly wouldnt.

Sol Campbell owes Portsmouth nothing. He was hired to do a job, he did that job but is still owed money. As for compassion, a football club is a business, not a charity.

Football engages pure human emotions more than any 'normal' business.

To compare it to standard businesses, is a touch naive IMO.

He owes them nothing. I owe charities nothing - i still donate.

I owe people on the street nothing, but at times when i've come across someone in need of help, i've done my bit.

Does he not owe the fans something, after all the support they gave him during his times of difficulty? He's paying them back by helping destroy their dreams.

I suppose it just comes down to whether one wants to be a nice compassionate decent human being, or a cunt.

remember being worth £28M isnt the same as having £28M in the bank. if you own your house and say its worth 150K would you chasing after 9K you where owed.

I know that if you havea few million in the bank then yeah its very different but remember he is unlikely to earn on the scale he has done ever again. players who unlike sol have wives and kids etc will want to leave them and maybe other family as much as they can.

still all rich people know how to chase what is legally theirs thats how they stay rich.

                  Exactly.

I'm not saying that Portsmouth gave him a lifeline, but I don't remember too many offers from other clubs when he left Arsenal.

He won an FA Cup with them, was part of their most successful team in their history, played in Europe with them, probably has friends - and you'd like to think, some loyalty - in Portsmouth too.

I would also guess that he's probably the highest earner in the clubs history.

Mega rich already... does he really need to do this? I don't know much about Campbell or his private life, but from what I've read he appears to be a self-centred prick.

I know being worth £28m isnt the same as having the money in the bank, but at the end of the day, he isnt on the brink of ceasing to survive - Portsmouth are and he's putting the final nail in the coffin. Of course he's legally entitled to it, but i'm sure plenty of players would do the right thing.

Personally I think that Campbell seems to be a selfish individual. Footballers are very well rewarded these days and unless he has thrown his money away which makes him a fool as well, it's not as if he is desperate for it. If you remember at Leeds many players and ex managers forgoed some of the monies owed to them to help the club at their time of need.

                      At worst it's awful timing.
                      Quit your jibber jabber!!!

Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??
