To the people blaming Harry Redknapp....i'd like you to explain how you have come to the frankly bizarre decision that he is the cause?

Do you have any idea of what it actually takes to run a football club?.....its not just a manager FFS

The owners, and accountants are the only ones at blame. Redknapp can only spend what they allow him to.

Thats hardly going to send the club into administration is it.

The owners and accountants are the only ones that are to blame IMO. They handle the money, they should know how much can and can't be spent. End of.

If Harry says i want to sign this player......its up to the owners, cheif execs and accountants to say yes or no isn't it?

I think they may also get an early parachute payment.

Been touted. Don't see why they should.

Yup. They were going down anyway, so it's better to have a 9 point deduction now rather than start next season in the Championship with minus figures.

How can a club that's done so well over the last 8 years, spent little, signed good players, played in Europe, won the FA Cup and sold players for huge profit end up in such a mess?! Look at their squad now compared to two seasons ago - utter Championship fodder these days.

                4th Liverpool P26 Pts 45
                5th Spurs P26 Pts 43
                6th Man City P25 Pts 40
                7th Villa P25 Pts 39

                How sweet would that be
points by default and reaping the rewards off someone worse off than ourselves no way, but im a socialist and a liverpool fan (THEY USE TO GO TOGETHER YEARS A GO).

HMRC have challenged them going into voluntary administration and they're back in the high court tomorrow. What a complete mess.

Portsmouth are to return to the High Court on Tuesday after Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs challenged the club going into voluntary administration.

"We're having to go to court to show that the debenture [debt agreement] is valid," said administrator Andrew Andronikou, the man running the club.

"We're not unduly worried and expect the administration to proceed."

Pompey's move into administration means HMRC is now ranked below their football-related creditors in priority.

Andronikou will also meet the Premier League on Tuesday to discuss Pompey's proposed nine-point penalty for entering administration.

The deduction would leave the Hampshire club on 10 points - 14 from safety and virtual certainties for relegation to the Championship.

On Thursday, Andronikou will attend a meeting of Premier League chairmen to explore whether clubs would consider allowing Portsmouth to sell players and then take them back on loan for the remainder of the season.

They were always going to use administration to delay the winding-up order. But if it is now being challenged then it could spell trouble

There will also be a discussion of the possibility of television revenue being forwarded early to the club, who have had four owners this season and on Friday became the first Premier League club to enter administration.

A Pompey spokesman said: "We don't want to pre-empt anything or pre-judge what will happen, but hopefully the Premier League and our fellow Premier League clubs will be as sympathetic as possible to our situation.

"The Premier League have been incredibly understanding and [club owner] Balram Chainrai would like to place on record his gratitude to chief executive Richard Scudamore, chairman Sir David Richards, company secretary and head of football administration Jane Purdon, general secretary Mike Foster and director of finance and administration Javed Khan."

Meranwhile, Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw said Portsmouth's financial woes should act as a "wake-up call" to the sport's authorities.

The game's governing body had some "very tough questions" to answer about football finance, the MP told the House of Commons.

                      Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw

He urged the Football Association to adopt the changes to the way the game is run that were recommended by Lord Burns in 2005.

And the minister said more clubs should follow the example of Exeter City in his constituency - a football club run by its fans.

"We do think that there remain some very tough questions for the football authorities to address, given the events at Portsmouth and elsewhere, issues around debt, around takeovers and strengthening the whole financial governance of football," he stated.

Crisis club Portsmouth are selling financial advice to their supporters - days after becoming the first Premier League team to go into administration.

Despite the club's £70million-plus debts, fans visiting the club’s website are given the option of visiting Pompey’s “PFC Financial Services” division, which claims to bring everyday financial solutions to supporters’ families.

The club says Portsmouth FC Financial Services “is a new arm to the club where our aim is to bring you some everyday financial products and solutions that our supporters and families have need for.”

The club even gives advice on managing savings and recommends the club’s “Portsmouth FC” branded credit cards as a solution to money problems.

One fan said: “It’s got to be a sick joke. How can they offer us advice on managing our finances after everything that’s happened? It should be the other way round.”

Last week, anxious to avoid a winding-up order from HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill of over £12million, the club was placed into administration.

Portsmouth are the first Premier League club to go into administration and now face near-certain relegation after being docked nine points by league chiefs.

But despite their financial difficulties, yesterday the club were still offering fans a number of financial services on its website.

**** me sideways, I just realized that if pompey draw against birmingham this weekend, our home game with pompey will not be played monday the 15th, due to the replay in the FA cup.

I'm in England on that monday and have already got tickets for the match... Anyone know when the match will be played if it is moved? is it moved forward to saturday or sunday, or is it moved a few weeks back? Would be really annoying to miss the game..

Peter Storrie has stepped down from his role as chief executive at Portsmouth.
Storrie, who joined the club in early 2002, will stay on as a consultant for the foreseeable future to aid the club's administrators.
The 57-year-old will assist on "the sale of the club, FA Cup semi-final arrangements and other projects," according to a club statement.
Portsmouth became the first Premier League club to enter administration in February with debts of more than £60m.
Storrie had taken a 40% pay cut only this week after 85 of the club's staff were made redundant as the club's administrator Andrew Andronikou looks to cut costs.

But he has decided to leave "in the best interests of the club", read the statement, after speaking with family and friends.
Storrie had become a target for abuse from some sections of the Portsmouth supporters in recent months, and he told Soccernet: "It is best that I walk away.
"Despite working non-stop to try to keep this club alive for the last 14 months, they need someone to blame, and there is nobody left to blame but me."
                                More to follow.
