I've only seen it from one angle on sky, but it doesn't seem that bad a challenge, both players go into it in a similar committed fashion, it's just very unfortunate the way it ended up. Ramsey was just extremely unlucky. I'm sure most people in football will wish him well and hope he recovers.

I don't know what sort of view Wenger or Fabragas had of the tackle itself (I know Fabragas was horrified when he saw Ramsey's leg, but that's not the same). It's understandable that both will be upset over what has happened but I think they have overreacted in their comments about the tackle.

Also on a side note why have sky decided not to show replays of the incident? (I know it doesn't make particularly nice viewing), but I remember the Eduardo one was analysed in detail.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I thought exactly the same when they showed the slow motion in MoTD. They froze the footage just before the impact and to me it looked as if it'd gone just before the impact

Whilst Ramsey has obviously suffered a terrible injury, I do feel for Shawcross, he's a likeable fella and no harm was meant from the challenge. His reaction to the incident proved that. He clearly feels awful about it so I hope it doesn't affect his game.

For what it's worth, would love to see him in our shirt at some point, very good defender and too good for Stoke.

        YNWA both Shawcross and Ramsey!

I agree with what most people are saying, looked a complete accident, so if that is the case what justification did the ref have to send Shawcross off??

Horrible thing to happen to the poor lad and hope he makes a full recovery/comes back stronger but for fabregas to bitch about the tackle after the one he put into shawcross earlier is a bit rich.

99 out of 100 times those sorts of tackles ends in a booking and a free kick but unfortunately this was one of those 1/100.

Spot on i thought that exactly. His foot was planted and i believe thats what done the damage and less so Shawcross. Im suprised MOTD didnt pick up on that becouse they showed a still and i thought it was quite clear.

Zooms in at the end. Looks like Ramsey lunged in and Shawcross just swiped for the ball. Just very unfortunate circumstances.

I'll have to agree with you. Its really looking like the leg broke just before impact. The pic linked before and that slow motion one above right at the end looks like its already broken just before the hit. I think he landed on the leg wrongly.

I think he made his decision when he saw the extent of the injury rather than on the challenge itself

I think the critisism Shawcross is getting is out of order. I think the decision of sky not showing the replays doesn't help him. Interestingly I watched football first last night, and the commentators comments on the challenge were completely different to what they said in the match (and the clips posted here). Instead of saying how bad a challenge it was they are saying it was unlucky and that Shawcross could be unlucky to be sent off.

The histrionics of the Arsenal players got him sent off. Granted it would've taken a very brave ref to have not sent him off - and Peter Walton is not one of those - but still, not a red card.

Just looked at the you tube clip. Shawcross was half stumbling out of the other tackle and tried to tackle Ramsey. It really wasnt a bad tackle Shawcross was clearly going for the ball, it was the force of the impact that caused the break.

At the end of the day Ramsay was very very unlucky and all those people bad mouthing Shawcross including Wenger are clearly out of order

                              Clearly.

But apparently having a pop at Wenger was a stupid thing to say.

I think he was so distraught by the extent of injury he would have gone off himself, if he had not have been sent off
