Hard to say really. He as been an inspirational captain for us but his forms very variable for England. Mostly through having to change his game to cover lumpoflard, but still, not everyone see's it that way.

Normally they go for something more populist so more likely to be a United player. Who's name fits rather than who's attitude fits. Hence Rio.

But then it's been ages since I watched an England game, just lost interest, so what do I know.

Possibly better if he isn't, less distractions from his main team.

Good chance of him being captain for the world cup, with Rio being injured for most of the season. Would be really good for him.
