I read something a while back about Lerners true investment in Villa and it amounts to $0 of his own money.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostLerner wanted to trim the squad...what planet is he on. Showing his true colours now maybe...and his lack of ambition for the club.
Villa fans will be devasted. hehe. sorry.

Villa fans will be devasted. hehe. sorry. He said last season he wanted to reduce the level of investment in players. There were rumours that O'Neill was unhappy then. It was clear almost from day one that he wasn't the sort of dream owner that some people seem to believe that we need/deserve.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYep. I mean...this of course could be complete bull but for a while Lerner has looked a bit of a dream owner thus far. Perhaps it was too good to be true.
To be honest I think nearly every chairman must be thinking about doing that - I would expect Chelsea, Arsenal, United and City are the only ones not under considerable pressure to balance the books with transfer dealings. In a lot of ways in the current financial climate anything else is probably a mistake for any well run club."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I realise this, i doubt anyone thought he'd spend stupidly...he never made any promises of signing 'willy nilly' if the manager wanted him.(snoogy doogy still available though) so i didn't think he was a dream owner.Originally posted by dww View PostHe said last season he wanted to reduce the level of investment in players. But the talk was that he was a good owner, which is why if this is true about MON, i don't understand what would make him walk out over it, are Lerners proposals that radical to make mon do this.

Think that's the article.
Lerner's other companies have loaned Villa lots and lots of money.

Learner has done well there, Villa have spent some decent money and probably wages too. If he's been subsidising the club for 2-3 years then an adjustment isn't so outrageous.
Could all be more blustering to help keep prices down in the summer and avoid the Chelsea/Man City syndrome of having to pay over the odds."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011
