Maradona attacked in the face by his dog

Argentina national team coach Diego Armando Maradona has had to undergo emergency surgery after being bitten on the face by one of his dogs, according to local media reports.

The 49-year-old former Napoli star is not thought to be in any serious danger, and reports suggest he could be released from hospital later today.

Maradona was taken to Los Arcos clinic in Buenos Aires for an urgent operation with his face bleeding after being savaged by one of his dogs at home. He arrived at the clinic with his girlfriend.

With just over two months to go until the start of the World Cup, fans around the world will be hoping that Maradona makes a swift recovery.

Finally, after all these years, Peter Reid's managed to catch up with him.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
