    Jack Hobbs

Now Leicester's captain and their player of the year. Having a good game in the play off semi too, even though they've just lost at home.

Anyone see enough of him and think we were a bit hasty in letting him go?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Nah, think he was always considered a decent prospect so it's no surprise to see him doing well at a lower level though.

Not seen a huge amount of him but he has impressed me when I have seen him. The thing is though that he needed the development time and games and I think we might have struggled to get it at Championship level on loan as teams are reticent to play young players in key positions and that is exacerbated when those players would not benefit that team once they have developed.

It's a bit like Shawcross et al from United - they were good players and could have done a job but really only came through because they got to go somewhere they had a chance. It would be nice if we had a buy back or sell on clause in the deal but other than that I think we probably did the right thing even if in hindsight it might look bad.

Personally don't think he is quick enough for the top end of the Premiership
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Do you think he is slower than Carragher?

I think he falls into the same category as some of the other young player we`ve sold.
Guthrie will be back in the PL, but good enough for the club LFC wants be.
Hammil hasn`t done anything special for Barnsley, 35 games 4 goals and 3 assists
Anderson could still end up in the PL next season with Forest and hasn`t done to bad: 37 games, 5 goals and 8 assists. But that is not good enough for LFC IMO.
These players could end up as average PL players, but that shouldn`t be enough to play for LFC (Even if it is at the moment)

Out of curiosity, what were these statistics for Adam Johnson before he cashed in to City?

A quick search shows he played 26 games and scored 12 goals in his last season for Boro, so his ratio is much better

Similar to the Warnock situation IMO

As for Hobbs I have to say he did look impressive yesterday, and may improve further, I think he could get to a Shawcross like level, whether he could go beyond that I don't know.

Pique is another one, gone onto be a class centre back for Barca but the reality is how good would he be now ifhe didnt go to Barca as he would have been behind ferdi and Vidic for so long.

One thing that really does piss me off about those punduts though. I cant htink of many players who have gone on to make instant impacts, I mean only recently is warnock playing upto Liverpool standfard and thats taken him 3/4? seasons playing regularly to get to this level. Those same pundits and fans would be calling for his head a la insua if he did his learning in the liverpool team

He is an interesting example as obviously the dual education at two top clubs has made him a truly excellent player. However presumably Barca thought he was already more or less fully formed after his cameos at United as they paid £8m for him.

It was hilarious to hear the Sky commentators before last years CL final stating that he was a sign of Barca's defensive weakness as he would have been Uniteds 5th choice CB (behind the obvious two, Evans and Brown apparently). That's the problem with paying people to be brainless blatherskites.

Totally agree and it is something that I have commented on before. I also think that people tend to overlook the down periods that introducing young players has at times had at Arsenal (Henry's last few injury plagued seasons seeming particularly to stick in the mind but more or less since they last won the league).

sure i checked on this before and he had a season on loan at sevilla or similar i think before Barca paid the money for him.

I agree though, very hard for some people to see the point when we have buffoons for pundits.
