    Stan 'The Thinker' Collymore's solution

    Another great idea from Stan

I suggest a total sum agreed by the Premier League whereby every club has exactly the same amount to spend each summer.

For example, clubs would have up to £70million-a-season to spend, which could include wages and transfer fees.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

For a start, how do the bottom clubs get this 70 million? Everyone else chips in?

How this guy gets paid for talking about football is beyond me
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Every summer is the same with this clown. Last summer he wanted to bring all the 'great historic' clubs back to the premiership and close off relegation and promotion

Wish I could laugh too Yeh Forest, Wednesday, Leeds, Southampton etc etc. Apparently all the small clubs do just fine in the lower leagues and have no need to be promoted to the Premiership

isnt his suggestion just an extension of a salary cap.

its not exactly groundbreaking or a huge leap of imagination from a salary cap is it.

its not that crazy but it wont happen well not for a while

It isn't going to happen but in principle I have long been an advocate of some sort of financial controls on teams.

The thing is that with this system you put a completely arbitrary limit on which is unlikely to protect the small clubs (i.e. Portsmouth can still happen) or aid competition but might well limit the league to not competing with the other top leagues. The package would have to be carefully considered and I suspect that Collymore is not the man to do that.

                              Masterly use of understatement.
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
