If he doesnt take Adam Johnson, that'll be a mistake IMO.

Whilst the wings are a major concern, the form of the back four and keeper is going to be our achillies heel.Originally posted by Operation View Post**** all round, but most of that shower won't see the pitch in the WC unless they fill in for injuries. Gerrard is a class above anyone else in MF, it was a very different game when he came on and started to pull the strings.
Rio Ferdinand
Apart from the striker issue (should be Bent), it's the wide men that are the biggest worry. SWP and Lennon, as Ok as they are, are **** on an international scale. Walcott is **** on any scale.

Oh, ok I nicked it off t'internet.
Stop the press. We’ve just taken a reverse charges call, from a curry house in Dagenham.
Our man says that he spent some quality time last night in the company of England’s Grande Fromage’s closest advisors and can pass on the following as the 23 that will be the chosen ones to represent this Septic Isle …in South Africa.
Green, James, Hart, Johnson, Carragher, Terry, King, Upson, Ferdinand, Cole A, Baines, Walcott, Lennon, Cole, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick, Milner, Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey.
Please do try to bear in mind that this is passed on in very good faith.Really?

Baines?Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postindeed, only cole and johnson really. if either gets hurt, england won't be attacking up that flank from the back.
Don't forget Carra. If England get into trouble, I fully expect him to hoof it up to Crouchie for an equaliser!
I reckon Carra might surprise. If he plays it's my prediction that he will get past the half way line and attempt a cross at least twice.Really?

To be honest it would be exactly the squad I would have guessed with the exception of the fact I would have found the Wright-Phillips vs J Cole choice hard to call. Possibly expected SWP to get the call as a/ he could play right wing back if we need to close down a game and Johnson is injured/off and he has been involved more in the qualification process. I guess Cole must have impressed with his versatility against Japan. I guess Milner is now a reserve for about half the positions on the pitch.Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostSo that would mean no Dawson, Warnock, Huddlestone, A Johnson, Parker, Wright-Phillips or Bent.
Shame about Warnock, Johnson and Bent imo. And all I can say about Heskey is, he must be hung like a donkey and have a very large photo collection.
Mind you, it's probably all bollocks."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
