    For arguements sake

    Starting XI

    ----------------------James------------------------

    Johnson-------terry-------ferdinand???--------------cole

    Lennon--------Lampard----Gerrard-------------Johnson

    ----------------Rooney--------Defoe

    Second X1

    -----------------------Hart---------------------------

    Carragher-------Dawson---King???-------------Warnock

    SWP------------Milner--------Barry???------------Cole

    ------------------Crouch-----Heskey??.

And Rob green – gives you the 23 man squad.

Question mark on heskey - i would actually like to see bent given a chance. He is always one of the leading english scorers and has never had a crack at it.

Other questions marks - barry's fitness - would open the door for either Parker/Carrick

and the fitness of both King/Ferdinand - I think both maybe a gamble but at least one of them will go - if only one does then it's either take upson as well, or take a gamble and have carragher for rightback cover as well as centre back cover with dawson and take an extra midfielder/striker.

People seem very sure that Capello will ditch Walcott. I'm not so sure. I also think Heskey is nailed on and Defoe a bit at risk. His form has been poor of late and he is crap in partnership with Rooney.

aye - i agree, I think heskey will go - i just think that bent deserves a chance -

Regards defoe - i think he has something the others don't. That natural fox in a box type instinct, and in a tight game late on, coming on as sub he is the type of player who will be there to bobble one in of his arse from 4 yards

I have to say that looks pretty damn strong on paper, I think with a bit of instilled confidence and a good couple of opening games we might actually do very well. That starting XI particularly has very nice back four, good stregnth, lots of pace, trickery and goals from all over. For me I would swap Johnson on to the other wing and start with Cole or even play one up with Cole behind Rooney, either way it looks pretty good imo

I'm not so sure about Defoe making it lads. He was on fire earlier in the season and looked a certainly to go and even start alongside Rooney.

However Defoe being Defoe he's faded away and the goals have dried up.

I reckon he'll still go but i wouldn't be putting money on it.

It would be a shame if Barry missed out.

I wouldn't be surprised if he takes Walcott. He has proved he can perform at the top level, even if it is just a single game that springs to mind, and I'm far from convinced by Wright-Phillips and Lennon who look like headless chickens to me.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'd say Lennon has had more moments that Walcott this season.

Walcott was getting accused of being the worst player ever until he scores an important goal and then he is the greatest thing since sliced bread (trademark tabloids 2010)

aye - i just Roughly picked the best player per position, then the 2nd best – but it has a bit of room for flexibility. – if needed you can 4-5-1 with gerrard behind rooney and barry more central and whoever left mid – etc.

I think we need a ‘wild card’ player – that player who comes in and just hits the ground running, sparking everyone in the squad to life and putting the ****s up the rest of the world – i think – Adam Johnson could do that. – Simialry with Darren Bent – he could be our squillaci (sp?)

Lennon's way ahead of Walcott in the pecking order if you ask me. Much improved, although it remains to be seen if his form is still good after the injury.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Remember for years everyone was saying England had no width?

                              Now there's:

                              Walcott
                              Lennon
                              Milner
                              SWP
                              Johnson
                              Joe Cole
