thats the issue - i think rooney is a great player. But he has a fiery attitude and reputation and it would be no great shock if he gets sent off.

Even before this 'incident' yesterday - teams would be planning on targeting rooney - get in his face, wind him up, call him a fat ugly cunts, pull his shirt, have a sly little clip at his heels, stand on his toes at corners. Eventually he's going to turn round and go steaming into someone

the second he does the inevitable will happen, every opposing player will come flying across into the referees face waving imaginary cards.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

TBF he has been getting away with verbally abusing Refs all his career. I think it would have been a great wake up call if the ref yesterday red carded him for abuse. He may have come to his senses in time for the WC.

Yes he has. It made me sick to see Mascherano made an example of when Rooney has made a career of calling officials the most blatantly obvious names and getting away with it. I'd laugh my head off if the gob****e got sent off.

He can't help himself, in any game - practically every time the camera cuts to a gruesome close-up he's effin' and jeffin' at somebody.

That really was a disgrace. Has Bennett reffed us since?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I'm no fan of Rooney but I assume those that want him sent off aren't supporting England in the WC?

Let him get sent off for the Mancs next season. He clearly isn't that out of control or he would be getting sent off in Europe/League constantly and plenty of footballers give it verbal all match long. It's not a good way to behave but he is hardly alone in his actions.

Maybe if it happens on the biggest stage of all, it'll draw peoples attention to what a cunt he really is and how the authorities turn a blind eye to it.

Aside from everything else he is representing England the nation and his behaviour on the pitch should reflect that, especially with the world watching. Instead he just reinforces the vile mouthed loutish stereotypes we are trying to get rid of, and kids in playgrounds will think it is ok to do the same.

So he's doing something right then.

I've had some friends on my Facebook complaining about the fact that an african girl from Soweto got offered to be the mascott for England. They think that it should have been given to an English expat there in SA. WTF is that reasoning?

Surely the reasoning is very simple: English team, English mascot. It's hardly rocket surgery.

Whether you agree with it or not is up to you

Why is it bollocks? That's the purpose of mascots. I personally couldn't give a **** but by their very nature it would make sense to have an English mascot.
