    Barca debts

There seems to be a lot of fanfare about Barca model being the best and the most ideal one. However, I am wondering about how debt management decisions are made in such a set up. According to this article, barcelona are in debt to the order of £420million over what needs to be paid for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dmytro Chygrynskiy and now David Villa. Why is it not a big issue for them as it is for us. And why arent UEFA and Platini making a big fuss over the Barca model.

Another doubt I have is that every year we hear Barca president candidates making promises to buy stars. Now when the President gets elected, does he buy the stars out of his own money or does he buy the stars and just piles em on with the debt? I am assuming the latter and in that scenario, I am not sure if fan ownership is the way to go?

Here is the article about their debts.

"Barcelona’s ‘stratospheric’ debt could wreck their hopes of landing Cesc Fabregas this summer.
Presidential candidate Sandro Rosell, has warned the Catalan club that they must balance the books if they want to continue their £40million pursuit of the Arsenal captain.

“We must be careful, because from an economic standpoint we are not good,” said Rosell. “We have a stratospheric level of debt. £420million over what needs to be paid for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dmytro Chygrynskiy."

“We must improve the squad each year, but we must also make sure that we are managing the economic resources that the club needs to survive.” The Swedish striker, and defender Chygrynskiy cost Barca close to £70million last summer, and both have failed to make a sufficient impact at the Nou Camp, meaning that they could be shipped out for a as little as half of what the club paid for them.

Rosell also went on to express his doubts over the £35million fee that the Spanish champions paid for David Villa. “From a sporting point of view it is a very good signing, but from an economic one we maybe needed a little more information. “Maybe there were other options available, for the cost and salary, so we lacked the right information to know whether the €50million price was a fair one. “If we add Cesc as well for €50, that increases our debt by another €100million,” bemoaned Rosell.

Ridiculous isn't it, that it's all wrong how we go about things in the prem with debt etc according to Plattini/Blatter, yet other countries and sides do just the same and it's ok, no bother.

Shows that the truth behind all these remarks about debt in the prem was down to nothing more than english clubs success in europe, and the jealousy and fear it created among those like Plattini who would rather english clubs failed.

Well Platini and Blatter are getting their way it seems. The PL is becoming weaker with the best players moving abroad now and **** like Spurs in the CL. All of a sudden they will be singing our praises (until we start dominating again).

To be fair they have said it about all the top teams it's just always reported here as a slur on the PL alone. Also the fact is that free market, massive debt model has ruined Pompey, is destroying us and weakening United. It wasn't the influence of Blatter et al. but the greed of the clubs and owners.
