    Transfer tittle-tattle

Nikola Zigic having a medical at Birmingham City ahead of a £6m move.

Angel Di Maria heavily linked with a €40m move to Real Madrid, although Benfica have denied it.

Looks like some clubs are keen to get their shizzle done before the World Cup.

Is he a left back or left winger (or neither )? If he is the former then that doesn't really fit in with all the Ashley Cole to Real Madrid rumours. On the subject of Cole, Cheryl has filed for divorce, but I suspect that isn't really transfer tittle tattle and is best left for another thread. That will probably be started joyously by DestinyDude.

Di Maria is a winger, probably the most highly prized young winger in the world. Crazy money that though.

I think he'll be another show pony, one trick flash merchant - unless he goes to a club where there's a manager who can mould him into something better.

Wonder if we should have tried to get him on that deal. Could be a useful option to have and take some battering off Torres.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He'd been at Arsenal for four years and how many first team appearances did he make? Weren't we in for him at the same time as Arsenal? As you say he was touted as a big prospect so it's somewhat surprising to see him leave on a free (can you imagine the uproar if we did similar ).

my thoughts exactly .......dont think we were ever in for him but i am sure he scored a belter against us?

just shows though he was touted as a big thing and nothing, yet most of arsenals real succeses have come with the unknowns.

Before he went to Arsenal Ballague hinted that we were after him but that he wouldn't go to the PL team many expected him to go to (which was us as we had long been linked and because of the Spanish connection).

I'm not sure how much this is just a sign of him not having the patience to work on his game with Arsenal he played a few games in the cups etc. this season and is still only 20 so might have kicked on. I think it does go to show how hard it is to polish youngsters from very early in their development at a big club. Most of the young players both ourselves and Arsenal have moved into the first team have been blooded elsewhere.

Is he the guy who scored the wonder goal in the Carling Cup?

Skysports.com understands that Atletico Madrid player Pablo Ibanez has flown to England to have a medical with a Premier League club, thought to be West Brom.

The 28-year-old central defender joined Atletico in 2004 from hometown club Albacete but was only a bit-part player last term, making just four La Liga starts.

Roberto Di Matteo's side have been linked with the Spanish international as they seek to stay in the top-flight after winning promotion from the Championship last term.

The 28-year-old would be available on a free transfer, with a three-year contract thought to have been offered.
