He was on a free anyway, but from the end of June or something. There was literally a fortnight or so to go and both parties wanted it dealt with, so they cancelled it.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

      I see.

To be honest, i'd have taken him. I know some will mock and say he's ****, but in our situation, he would've been worth a gamble. Not a very costly gamble either. I'd say he's better than N'Gog, so an improvement on a position we need to improve (eg backup striker).

I really don't think he is better than Ngog. He has much less potential to improve too. It will be interesting to see how he does at PL level though.

You really dont think so? Scored against a few PL sides including the mancs and spurs, and looked like he was not only holding his own against them, but proving a consistent threat and thorn in their side.

He definitely looks more threatening than N'Gog but thats merely an indicator of how **** N'Gog is. Neither are up to Premiership level imo.

I think people really under rate the things that Ngog does. Whenever I have seen Beckford he has looked like a poor footballer with a knack for getting goals. I've really never seen him consistently trouble a defense but then I guess being a cut price Inzaghi is a valid way to be an asset to a team.

I've championed N'Gog loads on here and i like him, and think he's got potential.

But he's a kid and he's been asked to do a man's job, which is unhelpful in his development.

dont u ever think that throwing him in the deap end for a little while may help, now we can go back to his normal role as a junior with that extra experience... could it be beneficial?

But the way a team from the top half of the table approach a game against a lower league side is much different to how premiership teams play against top 4 sides. If he had signed for us he would have been afforded alot less time and space than he was in those games. Even playing for Everton he is likely to get more space and time on the ball than he would if he'd signed for us.

Hopefully this summer we will bring in a decent back up striker and Ngog can be developed in the manner he should have been developed in.

What is it with all this developing for N'Gog? He is 21, and due to injuries he has had the fortune of so much more game time than he could have dreamed of.

Not quite done enough to convince me he is going to be a future starter, but coming off the bench I would now EXPECT him to make an impact next season. If he doesn't he will not be here too long IMO.

rumours gathering on news sources and twitter etc that Joe Cole is off to Arsenal

According to reports, Cole's representatives met up with Arsenal officials yesterday to thrash out the terms of the deal while the midfield playmaker was being called up to England's World Cup squad by Fabio Capello.
Barring any complications in the process the transfer is expected to be finalised next week, with a view to announcing the move before the tournament in South Africa begins in ten days' time.
The rumours follow hot on the heels of comments by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp earlier today, when he admitted he believes Cole has agreed in principle to a move to another Premier League.

'It looks to me that someone's going to make a great free transfer,' Redknapp is quoted as saying.
'I genuinely don't know who that is, but I don't think it's going to be Tottenham.
'I've got a feeling - and I may be wrong - that he's already agreed a deal with someone.
'I'm a big fan of Joe's, and I would be interested if he didn't stay at Chelsea, but the feedback we've had is that he might well have already done something.'

If true, the news would be a huge boost for Arsenal fans still reeling from the revelation that captain Cesc Fabregas could be leaving the club to join boyhood team Barcelona this summer.

Cole's signing also fits in with the Arsene Wenger transfer philosophy in that the England international would represent a shrewd bit of business.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at Chelsea and would be available on a free transfer.
And while his wage demands may have presented a stumbling block - given the Blues are reluctant to meet his expectations - Wenger is said to be more willing to offer larger contracts to players in a bid to build a title-winning team.
Former West Ham United star Cole is also believed to be keen to stay in London, as partner Carly Zucker has recently given birth to a son and is reluctant to relocate.

Would make perfect sense what with his preference to stay in London.

I remember Titi Camara going over there and saying that the place he lived in had gold taps and everytime he scored the owner of the club bought him a car.
